Don, along with twin brother Doug, was born in Toronto on March 22, 1924. The family moved to Kitchener where he grew up.
Don served as a private with the Highland Light Infantry Canadian Third Division, 9th Brigade during WWII. He was wounded on Juno Beach during the second wave of D-Day. He later rejoined his troop and ended up serving until the end of the war.
He came home from that experience and travelled and worked his way across Canada with two other friends, returning home to family and eventually meeting the love of his life, getting married and having children.
Don worked and retired from Lear Mfg. He was shy, quiet, thoughtful and very creative. He loved building and fixing things. He was deeply loved by us all.
Cremation has taken place. There is a celebration of life ceremony to follow for friends and family in the spring.
Thanks to Dr. Cherniak and the many wonderful nurses and PSWs who helped us to take good care of him. Special thanks to Cindy, Pat, Joanne and Glen.
