Beloved husband of Gudrun, loving father of Tamara (Gary) Johnson, and dear Opa to Tania Johnson.
Peter was born in Germany on February 26, 1936 and immigrated to Canada in 1956, where he was a truck driver for most of his life. He enjoyed many hobbies such as target shooting, steam train excursions, collecting model trains and planes, and reading history and geography books, which would guide his greatest passion of travel. He and Gudrun ventured across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean and several exotic destinations in the South Pacific.
He was a private man who was caring, loved animals, enjoyed laughter, and was very proud of his family. He will be fondly missed by his close friends in Canada and lifelong friends in Germany.
At Peter’s request, cremation has taken place as well as a private time of remembrance held by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Freeport, Grand River, and St. Mary’s Hospitals, the CCAC and the PSWs for their kind care.
As expressions of sympathy, please consider donations to one of the local hospitals, Parkinson Canada, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
