With profound sadness we announce that Alan George Gingerich passed away at Freeport Hospital on Friday November 29, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

Loving father of Dylan (Sheila) and Meagan (Dwight); Dear brother of Christine, Keith (Barbara), Susan (David predeceased), and Jane. Alan’s greatest joy and most honored title was that of “Grandpa” to his two grandchildren; Dayja and Samson.  Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Esther Gingerich. Uncle Al will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews as well as relatives and friends.

Alan worked at BF Goodrich for over 20 years. He enjoyed golfing with his family and friends.  Alan always had a joke and was known for lighting up the room with his presence.  He constantly made others laugh and feel at ease.  The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules and he paved his own way.  Alan will be remembered for his great sense of humor, thoughtfulness, kindness and devotion to his family.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Freeport Hospital as expressions of sympathy would be appreciated. Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Alan's obituary notice on Facebook.

Al
Humble Souls

The least of these may be heaven sent
Angels on a mission
But we know not

Think not of outward dressing
Of opportunity lost
Cry not, for what is perceived

Mourn for loss, not his, but yours
Cry for the pain of separation

A soul gone from our tenuous
Net of existence, that bound together,
Strengthens our existence

Underneath a crusted, scarred, sarcastic wit
Lived a gentle wounded soul
Who loved, and was loved.

Generous to more than we can know,
Did good deeds in secret,
He made a difference.

For you know not,
Unless you remember a kindness,
To you, or one of yours that made a difference

Therein lies a hint
Depths unknown.

A man, at times wounded and hurt,
Still gave like no other
A gentle soul.
That is Al.

Thank-you dear cousin - friend, card/golf mate - for the precious things we recall - it’s never too late.
You made your way - and labored hard - you played to win - with good regard.
The rain and sleet and snow and hail – it did not matter - you would prevail.
The trump and no trump - the dice we shook - the largest pot $5 took.
The sips and chugs to aid the way - no harm no foul - just the way we played.
And now your time is cut too short - cry not dear friends - your last retort.
We’ll miss you much and try real hard - no promise made - this left us scarred.
Thank-you Al - we’ll not forget - you made us all better - with no regrets.

Skoal!
