With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dorothy Elizabeth Kast on January 28th 2022.  Dorothy (Dot) was born in 1941 in Belfast, Ireland, immigrated to Canada in 1955. She resided in Toronto and Oakville before moving to Kitchener/Waterloo in 1982.

Beloved wife of John, her husband of 40 years. Predeceased by her first husband, David Brown. Daughter of the late Dorothy and David Crawford. Loving sister to the late Valerie Nicholl and late David Malcolm Crawford. Loving mother of Debra (Giorgio) & Derek (Amy). Cherished Grandma to Nathon & Evan, Danielle & Ethan. Sister in law to Armand (Denise), Lucien (Marie-France), Jean (Sonia), Dominique (Emilio), daughter-in-law to Mama Renee Kast and special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by her many Irish cousins both in Canada and Northern Ireland.

Dorothy started her career at Sealtest Dairy and then moved to the Ford Motor Company in Oakville before becoming the owner/operator of Marvelous Muffins at Market Square in Kitchener. After retirement, she started a new career in body esthetics to support her golf endeavours, among many other activities, including travels throughout the world on terra firma and the high seas.

Dorothy was an active member of Holy Trinity Church Kitchener for almost 40 years. She provided leadership and participated in two different Golf leagues, multiple Bridge Clubs, the Book Club and the Probus Club. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Grand River Cancer Centre for the care given to Dorothy.  A special thanks to the PSW's and Nurses who provided palliative care and helped Dorothy remain at home for an extended time. In her final days, Dorothy stayed at Innisfree House,  where she received loving and compassionate care from all the staff, as they kept her comfortable and pain-free.

We would also like to thank our many friends and extended family, both near and abroad, for their constant support in this difficult time, especially Father Joel for his spiritual guidance, the Mermaids and our Church family, whose gifts of love were dearly appreciated over these difficult months.

Cremation has already taken place, and due to Covid restrictions, the family has decided to postpone a memorial service at this time. An announcement will be made as to when and where the service will occur. Please send all inquiries to Derek@mhmpub.com or jdkast22@rogers.com

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Kitchener or Innisfree House as expressions of sympathy.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com. Also, please visit Dorothy's obituary notice on Facebook.

Irish Blessing
May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Rest in Peace, Dorothy; We love you, and you will be dearly missed.

1947 - 2022

With heavy hearts we share the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bruce passed on Saturday January 22 nd , 2022, in his 75th year at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.

Husband to Linda (nee Amendola) the love of his life; beloved father of Kelly Pattison (Trevor) and cherished grandfather of Bella and Ophelia; brother of Jill Richardson (Terry) and Sylvia (Phil); predeceased by his parents Cy and Dorothy.

With his infectious smile and twinkling eyes, Bruce was loved by all who knew him. He had a wide circle of friends and if he asked how you were, it was because he genuinely cared. Bruce was a highly respected teacher and mentor during his career at Seneca College. Bruce was a charismatic, creative man who loved to immerse himself in many hobbies; he was a painter, a sculptor, a carver, wood maker, wooden model boat builder and most recently a Lego Technic
enthusiast. His own artistic interests were reflected in the unique art collection that he treasured.

A lover of the world, Bruce and his family explored almost twenty countries together. Bruce was especially proud of travelling to France and following the footsteps of his Father during World War 11. He was always on the look out for new flora and fauna and so excited to teach his family, particularly his grandchildren, about new things that he experienced and learned. Bruce had a respect for Mother Nature like no other. He enjoyed being in the woods, walking with his family, friends, and dog Phoebe.

A loyal Toronto Maple Leaf fan, Bruce loved to tell the story of his attendance at the final game of the Stanley Cup finals in 1967, the last time the Leafs won the cup.

Bruce was Linda's personal chef. He was an avid cook, continuously learning and trying out new recipes and methods of cooking. He enjoyed sharing this passion with many friends and family, in particular his son-in-law, Trevor. Bruce was his grandkids biggest supporter. He was a walking encyclopedia for Bella and available sometimes at 3:00am just for a chat. If she had an interest, he learned about it. His role as "Cheer Gramps" excited him to no end. His pep talks are irreplaceable. Ophelia, his youngest granddaughter's sense of humor and sauciness brought him to laughter each time he saw her.

Bruce was Linda and Kelly's hero. He was their mentor, their teacher, their craftsman, their protector, and their friend. Always supportive, always encouraging, always listening, always challenging, and always loving.

As per his wishes cremation has taken place.

A "Celebration of Bruce's Life" will take place in Cambridge, Ontario on February 20, 2022. Details will be posted on Facebook.

In lieu of flowers, donations to:
Durham Hospice Clarington, 1615 Dundas St. East, Lang Tower West, Suite #304, Whitby Ontario L1N 2L1 www.durhamregionhospice.ca (CLARINGTON) would be greatly appreciated.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519-772-1237. Please visit Bruce's obituary notice on Facebook.

Passed away unexpectedly on Monday January 10, 2022 at the age of 60 years.

Fred worked at Colt Canada for 22 years as a CNC Machine Operator. In his free time, he loved spending time with his best buddies, (canine) Ripley & Wallace, and his family. He kept busy with the never ending TO-DO list that Luanne happily provided. Although quite a lot of time was spent finding ways to avoid that list. He loved to travel to warm destinations, especially aboard a cruise ship. An avid history and war buff, Fred loved a good argument or debate, especially if he won it.

Beloved husband and best friend of Luanne, married for over 33 years ( nee Harvey). Cherished and loving father of Jorden & Jamie. Headstrong and determined, Fred taught his daughters to persevere and stand for their own beliefs. TO-DO lists and wishes of his daughters were always priorities for Fred, sorry Mom.

Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Waltraud (nee Huber).

Cremation will take place. A private family gathering will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario or the OSPCA as expressions of sympathy.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Fred's obituary notice on Facebook.
