Picture
Glenda Ruth Mills, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend passed from this life into eternal life on March 30th.  Glenda was born in Nova Scotia and raised her family in Ontario.

Glenda was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost and loved her role as a Nanny. Glenda is the loving and devoted mother of Judy Spracklin and the dedicated grandmother of Jaleisya Spracklin-Belanger (Eric Belanger), Justice Spracklin, Jules Spracklin, Aleighna Resendes Spracklin, great grandson to be Hudson Charlie Glen Spracklin Belanger. Glenda was predeceased by her son Jason Spracklin (daughter in law Jen Spracklin), granddaughter Ayziah Spracklin, her father, Glendon Mills and her mother, Julia Mills. Her family was the passion in her life and she shared her unconditional love of her children and grandchildren by frequently discussing their accomplishments and interests and her love for them.

Glenda is survived by her family members Mary Mills (mother), and her siblings  Valerie (Will Stuart), Pauline (Rod Fraser), Sheila (Barry Squires), William (Heather), Liz (Archie Thompson), Ann, Leslie (Carrie) and many nephews and nieces.  As a daughter, sister and friend, Glenda was the most sincere, loyal and supportive person to all whose lives she touched. Her ability to make others feel like they were important, and her desire to make a positive difference in every person she met, was amazing to witness. Glenda always kept in touch with her friends from her childhood, her places of work, her university days, and her church.  She deeply appreciated the numerous calls and visits she received from her many family and friends. Special thanks to the LHIN and PSW for their care.

Glenda had a vivacious personality, a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. She made friends everywhere she went and her ability to talk about anything, her world knowledge and her quick memory captivated all those who met her. She was a strong, independent woman who was forward thinking and who inspired everyone she met. All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, thoughtful advice and grace, and the undying love, and the deep care she had for them.

Glenda had many talents and interests that she enjoyed throughout her life. She loved wildlife and became an advocate for a beaver at her favorite park. From a young age Glenda made quilts and designed crafts and wreaths. She volunteered with food banks, women's shelters and at her church. She was a pioneer in her workplace and had positions where her ability to negotiate, lead and work hard were essential. She discussed world history and politics with passion.

Glenda had a strong faith and it was an essential part of her life encompassing the qualities of compassion, forgiveness, honor, and care for others. She dedicated her life to helping others and in service to her faith and membership at her church. As written in John 11:25-26. Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to food banks, or a charity of choice. A bench will be placed in her memory at Churchill Park where she spent many joyous hours.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com.  Please visit  Glenda's obituary notice on Facebook.

Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at Freeport Health Centre on Thursday March 30, 2023 at the age of 71 years.

He was born and raised in Yorkshire, England, before moving to Canada in 1982.  His work life was varied, from working with his brother in England in the aluminum and double-glazed window industry, to IT Software Developer.  At the time of his passing, he was employed part-time with Toronto Council on Aging, and was looking forward to exploring additional research opportunities.

Paul was a life-long learner, including degrees from Brock University and Athabasca University.  He earned two Master’s degrees from Athabasca in the last four years, with the latest one being conferred on March 15, 2023.  He was currently a student at Toronto Metropolitan University, and anticipated graduation at the end of 2024.  Helping him in his education was his immense memory and range of knowledge which he was eager to share with anyone.  Ask him a question and he would give a quick answer followed by an in-depth review of connections to relevant movies, music, books, and links to additional resources!

He was also passionate about advocacy efforts in the field of disabilities, and he was a shining example of how much a person with disabilities can accomplish with the right supports including adaptive equipment.  He earned the two Master’s degrees and conducted all his current work while in full hospital care and on ventilator support, using adaptive equipment for his computer.  His “office” of computer equipment was installed on the over-the-bed table and was rolled in front of him each day so he could work.

Most of all, Paul was a people person with a bright personality – always positive, always ready with a joke, always seeing the good in people and any situation which came his way.  He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Beloved partner and best friend of Kathy Silliker.  Dear brother of Thelma Reynolds (and husband Paul Reynolds).  Inspirational uncle to many nieces and nephews and their families in US and UK.

Predeceased by his parents Harold and Margery Benson; sister Marion Baird; brother Richard Benson .

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life  will take place Saturday June 10, 2023 from   12 - 3pm - eulogy at 1pm at the Wellington Terrace,  410 John Street, Burlington, ON.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to a charity of the individual’s choice, reflecting their personal connection with Paul.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237.  Please visit Paul's obituary notice on Facebook.

Picture
Passed away peacefully and surrounded by close family at St. Mary’s General Hospital on Thursday March 23, 2023 at the age of 68.

Sheryl spent her entire life studying different ways to heal and help people either mentally, spiritually, or by way of natural remedies. She began her journey studying herbal supplements and the power of positive thinking and became a chartered herbalist. Sheryl opened a health food store in Owen Sound “Whole Foods”, with her mother May Romphf, and together they were able to help many people and built many friendships along the way. The health food store was closed in the 90s and Sheryl’s next step was to complete her schooling and acquire her diploma as a registered nurse. At the same time she trained as a doula and attended over 50 births.

Sheryl’s desire to help people continued to grow and her latest venture led to her opening her dream business. “Naturally Inspired Herbal Wellness Centre” in 2013. Sheryl became a certified crystal healer, And she aligned herself with others in the industry to ultimately create a community of spiritual healing and wellness. Naturally inspired was not just a store, it was a place to chat, a place to learn ways to self heal, a place to study with a vast collection of books, and a place of fellowship.

Sheryl loved going into the shop and was always ready to offer to her customers and friends whatever they needed. The name of the business was a perfect fit and along with Sheryl’s wealth of knowledge, calming spirit, huge heart and a willingness to help everyone she could, Sheryl truly was “Naturally Inspired."

Sheryl was the loving mother to four boys Paul Duell, Greg Duell, Mark Duell and predeceased Jeff Duell.  She was a proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren. And dear sister to Dwayne and Terry Romphf.

Cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that in honour of Sheryl, do your best to help someone. Maybe simply be a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, pay for someone’s coffee, any small gesture to honour someone who spent her entire life trying to help people.
