Passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 at the age of 70 years. Vic’s battles with cancer these past 15 years were continually met with courage and optimism. His faith in God never wavered.

Cherished husband of Nancy for over 51 years. Loving father of Rick (Elizabeth), Geoff  (Kristine), Dan (Jen), Melanee (Jeff). Proud Granddad to Ethan, James, Gillian, Simon, Sam, Emerson, Eliot, Raina, and Ari. Dear brother of Jane (late husband, Frank) and Jeannie (late husband, Rick). He was an Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Herman (Margaret), Bill (Dini), John (Linda), Corry (Richard). Predeceased by his parents Henry and Frieda (2002) Vandermolen.

He was born in Holland on July 21, 1948 and immigrated to Canada as a small boy. He always remained proud of his Dutch heritage. Although Vic achieved many different plateaus throughout a variety of careers, one of his proudest achievements was when he became a Pastor in 1999.  Over the next years he became known as “Pastor Vic” to Christian Reformed congregations in Mt. Brydges, St. Thomas and Stratford. He was especially happy to be the guest Pastor in Drayton. The Town was dear to his heart as it was the home of his grandparents and he had fond memories from his childhood. He spoke fondly still of being able to reunite with his cousins and friends there.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial gathering will be on Sunday May 26th from 3-5 pm in the fellowship hall of Waterloo Christian Reformed Church, 209 Bearinger Road, Waterloo. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 27th at 2 pm in the church with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice as expressions of sympathy.  Messages and condolences may be left with tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237.
