Kathleen Mary-Ellen Williamson

Kathleen Mary-Ellen Williamson (nee Bennett), at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener on Sunday, July 31st, 2016.

She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 49 years, Larry. Beloved mother to David (Jennifer), Dawn Taylor (Darren) and Douglas (Kendra). Loving Grannie to Christopher, Heather, Abigail, Thomas, Kaytelin and Sam and great-granddaughter Kyra. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Heather Crews (nee Muirhead) and James Bennett, and her brothers, Jimmy and Charlie Bennett. She will be missed by her extended family and her many friends.

At Kathy’s request, cremation has already taken place.

If so desired, donations in memory of Kathy, in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of your choice.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later time.

Vladimir (Vlad) Romanovsky

With a broken heart I want to share with you that on July 24, 2016, husband, father, brother and uncle Vlad fell asleep in the Lord. Vlad left this world peacefully, knowing that we will see each other soon. 

He left behind his wife Paula and daughters Barbara (Edmund) and Mary Jane (Kabir). And his family in Czech Republic, stepfather Pavel, sister Jana, sister-in-law Iva, nephew Mira, nieces Jana, Lenka a Petra with their families. Vlad was predeceased be his mother Marie 2002, his father Miloslav 2002, his beloved brother Pavel 2014 and brother-in-law Mira March 2016. Father-in-law Zdenek 2001 and mother-in-law 2004.
 
Donation in Vlad's memory can be made to Cambridge SDA Church - Building fund or Grand River Hospital - Freeport Campus. 

Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held on Sunday September 11th at 5:55pm in Wanner Mennonite Church, 1725 Beaverdale Rd. Cambridge. With refreshment to follow.

Geraldine Norma Leonard

Geraldine Norma Leonard (née Heath) passed peacefully at St. Mary’s hospital July 21st at the age of 77. 

Her joy for life, positive attitude and indomitable spirit will be missed by her three children; Huw (Camilla), Ian (Isilda) and Rhiannon (Rick), her five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, ex-husband (and his wife) and extended family. After working as an Registered Nurse for 35+ years, and living in many countries, she also had a very long list of friends that will miss her great sense of humour, her nurturing ways and ability to laugh in the face of her many trials and tribulations.   

We would also like to thank the staff at St Mary’s (particularly the nurses and doctors in the CVICU) for their TLC while she was under their care for her final days. 

Please join us to Celebrate Her Life on Sunday August 21st at the Mini Lakes pavilion in Aberfoyle from 1-3 p.m.  Google address:  2 Pavilion Road, Guelph  N0R 1K0.  Tip – look for gate 3 (Bull Frog Drive) off of Wellington Road 34.  A map can be found here.
 
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or  The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or do something kind for someone or fun as that is how  Geraldine lived her life - full of joy and taking care of others.

Dennis Mervyn (Merv) Dill

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce that Merv’s life journey ended on July 20, 2016, in Cambridge, and that Alzheimer disease no longer controls his destiny.

He leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 47 years, Karen, and first born cherished son, Michael. He was a very proud Papa of his Granddaughter, Jasmine Dill. Also, he leaves his brother, Rodney (Patricia) Dill; Mother-in-law, Rose Rivers; Brothers-in-law, Robert Rivers and Warren (Carolyn) Rivers; Sister-in-law, Judy Rivers, as well as extended family of nephews and nieces. Merv was predeceased by our beloved son, Ryan in April of 1982; his Father, Edward in October, 2005 and Mother, Adeline in September 2010.

He was born in County Antrim in Northern Ireland and came to Canada with his family, by ship across the Atlantic, in July of 1964. He met his wife Karen in April of 1965 and they married June 21, 1969. Merv had a long and satisfying banking and financial planning career, retiring in May of 2007.

At Merv’s request, his remains have been cremated and an invitation will be extended at a later date to attend a Life Celebration/Irish Wake in his honor.

For anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory, it is respectfully requested that it be given to either Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto or the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington.

Audrey Mary Ritchie

Audrey Mary Ritchie has passed in her 92nd year. She left quietly, in her sleep in Kitchener, Ontario on July 16, 2016. 

She is loved and missed by her sons and their families, Mark Ritchie and Barbara Patterson; Philip Ritchie and Cheryl Ernest-Ritchie and her grandchildren Spencer and Emily. She will be missed by her sister Donna MacKenzie of Oshawa and many nieces and nephews. Her husband William (Bill) predeceased her.

She was a kind, welcoming person, and always cared about the people that she knew. She enjoyed a long and interesting life, serving her country in WWII in the CWACs at age 19. In Ottawa and Toronto she worked as secretary then office manager for a helicopter manufacturer (OKANOGAN), a property developer (MINTO) and two international engineering companies (CANSULT and HATCH ASSOCIATES). She and Bill took an opportunity to leave Canada for a while and lived in Dallas, Texas, for 4 years, which she often described fondly as “an interesting adventure.” She then moved to London where she lived for the next 24 years. Audrey loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. Her journeys took her to every continent including Antarctica. 

Audrey will be interred with her parents and next to her husband, Bill, in Bobcaygeon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Mental Health Association.

Passed away July 8th, 2016.

It is with heavy hearts that we have to say good bye to someone like you. As we struggle and try to cope with the tremendous void in our lives we know in most ways you will always be with us now and forever until we meet again. Rest in peace love you Claire's army.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand River Cancer Centre or charity of your choice.

Memorial Mass will take place Friday July 15th at 10:30 a.m. at RC Church Our Lady of Lourdes, 173 Lourdes St.,Waterloo. A time of celebration and sharing memories will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Polish Veteran’s, Br. 412, (601 Wellington St., N., Kitchener), on Friday July 15th from 1 - 9 p.m.

Bonnie McGillivray passed away peacefully at Innisfree House, Kitchener
on Sunday July 3, 2016, at the age of 63.

Loving mother and greatly missed by son, Jason Hoch (friend Cara). Beloved sister of Vivian Tambeau, Evelyn Parks (Gary – deceased), and Nancy Duxbury. Lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Reta (Dunlop) and Harvey McGillivray. Also predeceased by her earth angel friends; Bill, Laurie and Tina.

Age 84, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Friday July 1, 2016.

Born on July 6, 1931, daughter of the late Bernard and Florence (Reisha) Treadwell. Beloved wife of the late Robert James Scott. Loving mother of 10 children and their spouses; Denny (deceased), Wayne, Bobby (deceased), Lorrie, Gary, Maryann, Linda (deceased), Debbie, Rusty and Tommy.  Lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a resident of Sunnyside Home, Kitchener. She will be sadly missed by all family and caregivers. 
 
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Evelyn’s name.

Barry James (Digger) Hicks

Barry, 75 years, passed away peacefully on July 1st, Canada Day at Lisaard House in Cambridge, Ontario. It was a five-year journey with prostate cancer. Always smiling and joking, he took the path one day at time.

Barry is survived by Judy, his wife of 52 years. He is also survived by his son Jeff (Stephanie) with grandsons Kevin, Ian and Alex and his son Jamey (Kim) with granddaughters Alyssa and Mikayla. Barry was born in Schumacher, Ontario to Cecilia and Edgar Hicks. With siblings Joyce, Orville (predeceased), Doreen, Val, Greig, Becky, Barbara, Jennifer and Georgie.

Barry worked at Budd Automotive for 33 years and had a passion for sports, managed the Schumacher Bears and rooted for Mickey Mantle, the New York Yankees and Montreal Canadiens.

Cremation has taken place along with a private family ceremony. Any donations may be made to the hospice, Lisaard House.
