With the heaviest of hearts and great sadness we announce the unexpected, but peaceful, passing of Jim Smith, on Friday July 31, 2020 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital surrounded by family at the young age of 51. Beloved husband of Tammy (Louch), loving father of Hayley and Madison (Brody Sinclair) and the extremely proud Papa J to Haven. He often said, he wanted nothing more than to have grand babies, we are grateful he met Haven.  Jim was born in Sarnia and moved to Hespeler when he was thirteen.  Known during his high school years as one of the Hespeler boys.  Even though he lived in Sarnia and Preston longer, he very much considered himself a Hespelerite.

Predeceased by his parents Larry Smith and Barbara Slaughter (Wilder).  Survived by his cousins, Tim Gordon, Carrie Brooks and Mike Gordon (Claire), Uncle Bob and his brother Dave. Jim had a wonderful sense of humour, and even those who didn’t know him very well were sure to have had a laugh or two at something he said. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him and he will always be in their thoughts.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their attention and care, with a special thanx to Dr. T Sharma.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Epilepsy Ontario or The Canadian Cancer Society.

Cremation has taken place. The family will be holding a drop in visitation on Saturday August 15, 2020 from 1 pm - 3 pm at Four Fathers Brewery (125 Guelph Ave Cambridge - upstairs event space) and then a private Celebration of Life will be held.  Messages and condolences may be left at ww.tricitycremations.com or 519.267.7199.  Please visit Jim's obituary notice on Facebook.

It is with bittersweet sadness that we announce the passing of our Papa. Peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Lucille (Barbe), and surrounded by the kindness and care of the Innisfree Hospice staff, Clare passed as the sun was rising in his 85th year.

The ninth of twelve children born to Dillon and Joesphine (Reich) Way of Powassan, ON. Clare is survived by his sisters Agnes (Art Voyer) and Margeret (Bruce Steadman), both of Grand Bend, ON. Predeceased by his siblings Genevieve (Don Teed), Leo (Eileen), Elsie (Colin Pfeiffer), Stella (Bud Schell), Cleve (Theresa), Steven, Irene (Gus Rosiak), Patsy (Scott) and Irvin (Barb). Clare shared his life with his soulmate Lucille (of Chiswick, ON), his adoring wife of 60 years and their loving son Donald (Laureen Sternberg).

After growing up and leaving the family farm in Powassan, Clare, Lucille and Donny moved to Kitchener, ON in 1966. After 28 years of employment, he retired from JM Schenider’s and spent his remaining years doing what he loved. Clare was always up for a game of cards and racked up the kms in search for garage sales and flea markets. He would often be found tinkering in his garage and tending to his gardens.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Christine (Jason Cassell), Adrian, and Erik Way of Kitchener and his great-grandchildren Julian, Lex, Trip, and Gabriel. We will miss his stories, his wisdom, and his gentle presence.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Innisfree Hospice for their attention and care. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Clare’s honor can be made to the Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener. Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. October 1, 1950 – July 21, 2020

After a two week battle with pneumonia, I said Good bye to Janet, my best friend of 41 years. My 3 children; Rosalynd (Tom), Roxanne (Jeff) and Russell; they didn’t always have the sense to cheer for my favourite teams but I still loved them unconditionally.

I was also “Pappy” to Audrey and Caitlin and loved making lasting memories with them.
My love of family came from growing up with Dave and Sid and spending summers in Kearney with the Huffmans.

After retiring as a Corrections Officer in Milton, I started a second career as a “bouncer” at SJAM and enjoyed 14 years ripping phone books and patrolling the halls.

A Gathering to Celebrate Stephen’s Life will be held at a later date.

In my memory, open your arms and embrace a loved one.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit Stephen's obituary notice on Facebook.

October 4, 1951 - July 12, 2020

“Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind.”

Richard was predeceased by his twin brother, Ronald George (1979), his father, Jack Ernest (2011), his mother, Helen Patricia (2013) & his loving sister Judith Elizabeth (2019).  He is survived by his younger brother Donald Peter (Paula) & an older brother, David John (Rose).  Dearly loved by all his nieces & nephews. Lovingly remembered by his first & second wives, Joan & Janice, whom he remained good friends with, as well as his special friend & travelling companion, Gwynette.  Richard & Gwynette looked forward to a life together with future travels in their golden years.  He will be missed & fondly remembered by a multitude of friends & acquaintances.

Although he never had children of his own, he had a personal long term commitment to fostering a young boy & girl, from India affiliated with the Christian Children's Fund of Canada. His generosity was shared with local charities & his love & compassion for animals provided donations to the local Humane Society.

Richard was born in St Catherines & raised in Burlington where he attended Burlington Central Public School & Burlington Central High School.  He also attended Mohawk College in Hamilton before he began his office position at Coreslab Structures (ONT) Inc., Dundas.  It was the beginning of his symptoms that necessitated a medical leave & the eventual  diagnoses of Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) & Parkinson-plus syndromes that ended his 40 year career with Coreslab.  Richard passed away after an almost two year ordeal with these devastating diseases.  The challenges he experienced never wavered his gentle demeanor & it appeared he was always accepting of the journey he had before him.  Family is thankful for the care, kindness & support of all staff at Cambridge Country Manor Long Term Care Facility.

His pride & joy was his home, a century farmhouse in Carlisle, Ontario where he resided for most of his life & made multiple home improvements while maintaining its charm.

The family would like to acknowledge Richard's eldest niece, Kirsten, sister Judith's daughter, who stood by his side, providing family care & comfort. She continued to convey guidance, reassurance & updates to Richard's family, all of whom live away from Cambridge. Kirsten's strength, skills, dignity & love for her Uncle “Ric” would have made him very proud. “Thank you Kirsten”.   As an expression of sympathy, donations in Richard's memory to Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org 1-800-473-4636) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Visitation at Smith Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street, Burlington Ontario on July 25, 2020 from 3-6pm.  In accordance with provincial regulations, there is a limit to the number of visitors who may attend at one time.  Please RSVP in advance at www.smithsfh.com.  All visitors are asked to wear a face mask and are to remain in their cars until their allotted time.

A Life Celebration will be held August 8, 2020 from 12-3 pm at Northview Gardens, Peterborough, Ontario 705-768- 9742, followed by a private family Interment for Richard Eric and his late sister, Judith Elizabeth at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario.

It is with great sadness that the family of Katelyn Eileen MacDonald announce her passing, on Monday, July 6, 2020, at the age of 32 years.

Katelyn will be forever remembered and loved by her fiancé, Mark Hunter and her parents, Sherry and Bernard and sister, Kathleen. Katelyn will be lovingly remembered by her grandmothers, Catherine Penney and Dorothy MacDonald and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Katelyn was predeceased by her grandfather Gerald Joseph Penney.

Katelyn was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She moved to the U.S. with her family, while in Middle School. Katelyn attended High School in Orlando, FL at Bishop Moore Catholic HS, where she graduated with Honors. She went to the University of Florida on a scholarship & then the University of Waterloo, earning an undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences – with Honours. She then obtained a Master of Science degree at UW, before entering the workforce at Esri.

Katelyn was a passionate life-long learner with a desire to make the world a better place. After an experience attending to the needs of her ill grandfather, Katelyn was inspired to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. At the time of her passing, Katelyn was a junior nursing student at the University of Toronto, in the Accelerated BSN program. She was inspired daily by her classmates and peers. Clinical experiences were her favorite activity in the nursing program, and she enjoyed the camaraderie with her clinical peers, nurses and especially the patients she cared for. She supported her classmates, by being a Student Union representative at U of T.

For the last several years, Katelyn lived in Toronto with Mark and their two cherished cats; Penny and Luna. Katelyn was never more at home than when she was exploring the outdoors, where she thrived. Her inquisitive mind and strong sense of curiosity always led her on a path of discovery.

Katelyn’s adventurous spirit inspired her many travels including a tour of Europe after college with a cherished friend and across Canada, in search of the most interesting landscapes, diverse geographies and of course, the best camping sites. In her early years Katelyn enjoyed summers with her sister and cousins in Marion Bridge, Cape Breton with their grandparents. She loved to reflect on the happy times spent ‘out on the Mira’.

Celebration of life services to remember Katelyn, are delayed by the Covid-19 Pandemic and will be scheduled at a later time. In honor of Katelyn’s love of caring for animals, those who so desire may make memorial donations in lieu of flowers to Toronto Humane Society, 11 River St, Toronto.
