Martin (Matt) Daw, 78, of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 30, 2021.


Matt will be forever missed by Pat and his sons, James and Chris Daw.   His sister Margaret and husband Jim Airlie and Andrew and Kim Airlie of Vancouver BC. Matt was predeceased by his parents and brothers Hughie and James Daw of Scotland. Matt will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

Cremation (Tri City) has taken place. And a graveside service will be held at a later date. If desired donations to the Children's Wish Foundation would be appreciated.

Mary Catharine Vasey (nee Riehl)

Passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital, on Tuesday September 28, 2021 at the age of 63 years.

Beloved daughter of Ken Riehl. Loving wife of Rodger Vasey of Kitchener. Dear sister of John and Christopher Riehl, and Aunt of Stephanie Riehl. She is the cherished sister-in-law of Heather O’Callahan (Terry) and Patrick Vasey (Lorie Marcella). Predeceased by her Mother Carolyn (nee Snider) Riehl.

Cremation has taken place.  Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of memorial visitation to celebrate Mary’s life on Saturday October 16th, 2021 at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock from 3-4 pm, followed by the service in the Funeral Home chapel at 4 p.m. with Rev Jeff Smith officiating. Please RSVP by contacting the funeral home at www.brockandvisser.com.

We would also like to thank our many friends and family for their constant support in this difficult time.

Allan Stanley Griese

Passed away peacefully at Lisaard House in Cambridge on Monday September 27th, 2021 at the age of 72 years.

Dear son of Lillian Barna, and loving brother of Ken and his twin brother Albert, along with his nieces and nephews; Jeff, Angela, Shannon, Stephanie, and Trevor. Cherished father of Kevin (Edi) and Steven Griese. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren; Briana and Mason.

Allan was retired from MTD where he worked as a welder. He enjoyed fishing, camping and having coffee with his friends Roy and Tony.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lisaard House would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Robert Joel Pulkkinen

On Friday Sept 24, 2021 Robert Joel Pulkkinen loving husband, father, grandfather passed away at the age of 74. Bob was born on December 29, 1946 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. On February 25, 1967 he married the love of his life Dianne Dupuis. They raised two children Mya and Wayland.

Bob was a very talented athlete. He was awarded a scholarship offer to attend Brown University for Baseball. His devotion to his family life and values made him take another path. He received a diploma in Recreation Leadership from Confederation College. Bob worked countless hours with Big Brothers Association in Thunder Bay. His passion for billiards was evident with the extra goodies that were brought home to provide for his family. Bob’s work always took him away from his family life. Whether it was working in the mines in Hemlo or at different generating plants like Darlington for Ontario Hydro as a Mechanical Technician.

Bob had a passion for his family and work. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. His love for his Boston Bruins was seen by many family and friends. Bob is survived by Mya (Erkki), Wayland (Caroline), grandsons Matti, Mika, Carlan, and granddaughter Brielle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was widowed by his late wife Dianne and predeceased by his parents Joel and Norma Pulkkinen.

Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lisaard House in Cambridge, Ontario.

Patricia Anne Jackson (nee Fiske)

Passed away peacefully at Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care, Kitchener-Waterloo on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 82 years.

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Patricia would often proclaim “I’ve had such a good life!”  Married for 50 years plus one day to the love of her life, the late La-Verne Jackson (2008). Beloved mother of Lori Jackson. Proud grandma of Linden and Logan, Lindsay (Joe) and Brittany, and Andrew. Dear sister of Jackie McGowan. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Jean Fiske.

Patricia enjoyed the simple pleasures of every day, tending to her domestic doings with reverence and love for her family, friends, and home. With her quiet strength, gentle ways, caring heart, and generous hands, she devoted her life to doing what she could to enrich the lives of others.

Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to be held in Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls.

 In memory of Patricia, donations may be made directly to the Salvation Army, the Niagara Youth Orchestra, or The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.

Karen Anderson

With great sadness we announce Karen’s passing from abdominal cancer on September 22, 2021 at the Hospice of Waterloo Region.  Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband  Alan and sorely missed by her sisters, Judy Carter (Jeff) of Winnipeg, Dianne Varga (Dave) of Calgary and Janice Daly (Sean) of Yellowknife, by her brother Terry Brown (Kris) of Calgary, and her sister-in-law Gail Anderson (Lorne) of Kanata.  Karen was a special aunt to Jonathan Carter, Jennifer Carter, Kieran Daly and Seamus Daly.

Karen’s family would like to express their appreciation for the love and concern shown by many friends across Canada, and especially by her life-long friends, the McCloy family of Kingston, Ontario.

Karen had a long career at Mutual Life/Clarica/Sun Life.

Cremation has taken place.  Interment will be at a later date at a family plot in Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of Waterloo Region’s Let Love Bloom campaign or the charity of your choice.

Janet Lyn Banks (nee Saunders)

Janet Lyn Banks (nee Saunders) of Kitchener, Ontario passed away from cancer on September 21, 2021 at Freeport Hospital. She was 73.

Janet was the beloved wife of William Banks. She was the loving mother of Melany and Scott and his partner Becky. She was the adoring grandmother of their daughter, Lily. She was the
caring sister of Carroll Porubovic. She was the loving auntie of Lorn and Paula Baird, Michael Banks, and Krista Vasiga and her daughter, Natalie. She was the kind sister-in-law of John and Mary Anne Banks. Janet was predeceased by her parents Harold and Joyce Saunders.

Janet was a brilliant artist and an active member of the Button Factory in Waterloo. Previously, she was an ESL teacher. She reminded us often that “all things are working out for the best.”

Cremation has taken place and a private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Janet was a supporter of the David Suzuki  Foundation and donations in her memory would be

Dorothy Marie Normand

Passed away peacefully at Pinehaven Nursing Home, of natural  causes, on Tuesday September 21, 2021 in her 92nd year.
 
Dorothy enjoyed working in Food Services for the University of Waterloo for many years. After her retirement in 1994, she spent her time lovingly caring for her family and travelling with her one and only sole mate.

Beloved wife of the late Clarence John Normand (March 06, 2002). Loving mother of Mary Downie (Brad Downie) and the late Michael Normand (March 15, 2019) survived by his loving wife Georgia Normand. Dear sister of the late Walter Carter. Proud grandma of Dawnalee, Dayna, Brandon and Matthew. She will be forever in our hearts including all her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

At the family's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place. A private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Pinehaven Nursing Home. A heartfelt thank-you to the entire staff at Pinehaven for caring for my Mom with sincere love and respect. It is appreciated beyond words!

Robert Russell Carr

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Lisaard House on Monday September 13, 2021, at the age of 67 years. Throughout his courageous battle, he always stayed positive and kept his spirit going until the end.

Born in Galt, son of the late Russell and Marion (Redpath) Carr. Beloved husband of 40 years to Margaret “Peggy” (Neu) Carr. Loving father of Russell, Jaclyn, Bradley (Arlene). Proud Grandpa of Samantha, Kylea, Jordan, Gavin and Ella. Dear brother of Grace Carr, Mary (Ralston) Noseworthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was always the life of the party, what we wouldn’t do to hear one of his stories. Some of our favorite memories were from camping, Robert had three biological children, but was “Dad” to many.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Rogowska on September 17, 2021 at Mississauga Trillium Hospital.

Elizabeth was a loved wife by her husband Igor, a supportive sister to many siblings in Canada and Poland and an incredible aunt.

She was an unwavering example of the ease of evoking kindness, care and positivity to those around her. She was formally educated in Poland with a Masters in teaching history, and moved to Canada in 1989. She was resilient through life's changes and was always known as a loving person.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
