Marie passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017 at age 91 with her children John (Dr. Schaman) and Anne Reiter and son-in-law Danny by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband Simon, Marie will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Daniel Reiter (Roxanne), Davey Reiter (Kathryn), Elissa Liu (Irwin), Katrina Schaman (John Paul Del Monte), Jessika Sudarsan (Paul) as well as her great grandchildren: Logan Reiter, Kai Liu, Max Liu and newborn Silas Sudarsan. Predeceased by her sister Katharina Weiner, Marie will be missed by nephew Joseph Weiner and family, brother-in-law Tony Shaman and family, as well as sister-in-law Elizabeth Petereit and family.

For over 30 years, Marie was an integral part of Dr. John Schaman’s medical practice and clinic.  She and her husband Simon were the caretakers of the clinic, including all the groundskeeping, housekeeping and maintenance. Her quiet background presence was a great support to Dr. Schaman and to his medical clinic, as well as the Cardiac Fitness Association.  Marie was also a passionate gardener; no flower or plant was immune to her green thumb and the clinic grounds were always a gorgeous explosion of colour due to her care. Marie also found great pleasure in all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her eyes lit up and her joyful smile appeared whenever they visited and shared their stories and experiences with her. Family was always her priority and she filled all with not only her love, but with her great feasts where she cooked well-remembered culinary masterpieces and amazing desserts.  She will be remembered fondly and greatly missed.

A memorial for the immediate family will be held. Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Cardiac Fitness Association Walk of Life at www.cfaheart.com or 519-648-2252. Thanks to the staff at Sunnyside LTC Home who cared for Marie during the past years.
