Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the age of 75.

Son of the late Sandor and Maria Pinter. Lovingly remembered by his Son Matthew (Samantha), stepchildren Tracy (Tony) and Trevor (Meri) and 7 grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by many friends and relatives.

Larry Merle Shmyr

Passed away at Freeport Hospital on Friday Dec 27, 2019 at the age of 68 years after a brief battle with Cancer.

He was born on April 4, 1946 to Olga and the late Merle Shmyr.  He was a Welder and worked in Cambridge for many years.

Loving husband of the late Linda Shmyr as of  Oct 13, 2019.  Dear Father of Dalyce, Kalend and Step-father of Patricia Coutts. He is survived by his siblings, Dennis, Joan and Aliza and he will be sadly missed by his grandchildren.

William (Bill) J. D. Stewart

At St. Mary’s Hospital on Friday, December 27, 2019 in his 90th year.

Beloved husband of 65 years to the late Gwenfrydd Joyce (nee Pearce), loving father of Sandra (husband Andrew Kneisel) and William, and grandfather of Michael Odhiambo.

Bill was born in Kitchener to parents, William and Almira (nee Johnston) Stewart. His career included Canada Trust Bank Manager, Chicopee Ski Club General Manager and finished with K-W Oktoberfest General Manager. He volunteered with Kinsman, Canadian Automobile Association, Waterloo County Hall of Fame, CAFE, K-W Oktoberfest and the Oliphant Campers’ Association. Bill and Gwen retired to Oliphant and Bill spent summer days as a vendor at local farmers’ markets. They also spent winters in Port Charlotte, Florida and Parksville, B.C. Both he and Gwen were long-time bridge players.

Cremation has taken place. As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Interment at the Chesley Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy would be appreciated to the Oliphant Campers’ Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Grey Bruce Health Services Foundation.

Peter Randolph  Peori

1950 - 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the Passing of our dear Brother, Peter, on Friday December 20th, 2019 at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener.  At the age of 69 years, due to a long and courageous fight with Diabetes, Heart and Cancer. 

Peter was born in Hespeler (old Galt Hospital), to the late Tony and Betty Peori. Loved and missed by Christina Peori (ex-wife), Sons; Peter Jr., Shane, and Becky and Grandchildren, Adam, Christopher, Melanie and Brandon.  Siblings; John, Tony, Paul (Pete's Twin), Becky and Rose (deceased) and by many nieces and nephews.

Peter worked for many years with his Father and 13 years at Norris Bakery in Kitchener until 3 years ago due to illness.  He had a love for the Country, Horses, Fishing and Family. 

 A special thank you to the Staff at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, for your loving Care of Our Brother. 

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Brian Salsbury

Passed away on December 18, 2019 at Freeport at the age of 78.

​He will be sadly missed by all his family.  Loving husband of June (1998), father to John Salsbury (Kerry) of Cambridge, Lynn Byatt (Dan Caetano) of Ayr and the late Roy Salsbury (2019) of England. Loving grandfather to Ruby Salsbury, Ross McKenzie, Ross Kattenhorn of Cambridge, Ryan Salsbury, Jannene and Darren of the UK. Great grandfather to three.

Cremation has already taken place as per his wishes. The family appreciates all the care and attention provided by the staff and doctors at Freeport Hospital, 2nd Floor, Seniors Mental Health. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Julia Riley (nee Davies)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julia on Wednesday Dec 18, 2019 at Innisfree House, Kitchener at the age of 55 years.

Julia was born on May 22, 1964 in Kamloops B.C. to Howard and Constance Davies (nee  Brown). She loved working the front desk at the Waterloo Tennis Club where she worked for many years. Julia enjoyed gardening at her home in Waterloo, cooking and traveling to the sunny south.

She is the loving wife and best friend of Greg Riley. Loved daughter-in-law of Doug and Barbara Riley of Seaforth, Treasured sister-in- law of Kim and Dean Ellerbrock of Orchard Park, New York. Dear Sister of Simon Davies and Sarah and Special Aunt of Mackenzie and Sam Ellerbrock. Survived by her Aunt Barbara and Uncle Chuck of Ottawa . She will be fondly remembered by many relatives, friends, colleagues and members of the Tennis Club.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Julia’s Life will be Held at the Waterloo Tennis Club in the Spring(TBA)

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the Celebration of Life. The money will go to the support of Innisfree/Lisaard Hospices. They made Julia's last few days on earth very special.

Barbara Nandor-Hilson

 Barbara passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 due to complications from surgery.

Forever missed by her friend (and travel companion), Otto. She leaves behind her son Christian (Tanja), grandchildren Rachel (Jake) and Keenan and her great-grandson, Levi. Predeceased by her Omi and Pepi who raised her, brother Peter and countless pets she loved over the years.

Barb was an amazing cook, loved travelling and often visited the Humane Society.

Donations to KW Humane Society would be appreciated to honour her memory. Open House to be held Friday, December 27, 2019, 3-7pm to celebrate her life. Condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com

Passed away on December 12, 2019 at Innisfree House Hospice in Kitchener, Ontario.
 
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Donald Downer (2000). Loving mother of Cathy Downer (Bruce Weber), Nancy Hnatejko (Greg) and John Downer. Proud grandmother of Lauren, Kellsie (Justin), Craig and Mark and great-grandmother of Savannah and Payton. She leaves behind her brother Herb Johnson (Marg) and her sisters Betty Ellis (Ted), Janet Fleming (Jim), Margaret Moffat, Ruth Elmes and Dianne Cormier (Peter). Predeceased by her brother Bob Johnson.
 
Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 15 from 1pm – 4pm, with memories to be shared at 2pm, at Homewood Suites, 800 Jamieson Parkway in Cambridge.

Chase Alexander Majerus

It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that Chase Alexander Majerus passed away on Thursday December 12th 2019, 8 weeks old at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Cherished son of Stacey Strickland and Daniel Majerus, Beloved little brother of Chloe Majerus, Loving grandson of Barbara and Victor Strickland, Tina Linton and Darryl Brezina, nephew of Andrew Strickland, Nichlolas and Shae Strickland, Amanda Majerus and Devin Briand and cousins of Clark and Conner Strickland, he will be also missed by many many more, for such a little guy he had a big impact on a lot of lives.
 
Mommy, Daddy and Chloe miss you little man, so much everyday, even though you are not with us anymore physically, we know and feel that you will continue to be with us everyday, watching and protecting us. Until we meet again, my little guy.

William John Gibson

​July 21st 1957 - December 10th 2019
 
It is with broken hearts we announce that after a hard- fought battle with esophageal cancer, Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by love on December 10th at the age of 62. 
 
He is survived by his spouse Sandra Hillcoat. His daughters Jamie (Kevin), Carrie (Derek) and “special father” to Spencer Prochnicki. Survived by 3 grandchildren, his brothers David (Kathryn), Andy (Tammie), Ian (Linda), Brian (Kim) and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents James and Doreen (nee Candy) Gibson.
                                       
Bill enjoyed a long passionate career in the union movement. Bill was a proud member of Unifor Local 414 and currently was proud Area Director for Unifor Canada.
 
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday December 15th starting at 1 pm, at the Doubletree by Hilton, 30 Fairview Road South, Kitchener with Memorial Tributes at 2 pm. Reception to follow. 
 
In Lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. 
 
Many thanks to surgeon Dr. Paul Chiasson, Palliative Care physician Dr. Duncan Schwarz and Freeport Health Center Palliative Care staff for the amazing end of life care Bill was given.
