I grew up with Richard, went to school together and player everything from horseshoes to cowboys and outlaws. We hunted and fished and even attended Fredericton Business College. I last saw Dick in the early 70s. I had recently obtained his phone number but didn'd call soon enough. I had no idea he was sick. He was a good guy and friend and even though I haven't seen him in many years, if feel his loss. I must share a story which means so much to me - When we were in grade 2 or 3, as we got out of classes about 45 minutes before the others, I joined Richard at his home and we played some games. Emma, Dick's mom had been frying doughnuts and presented us with 2 special ones in the shape of the number 8. They were sugared and had a nice crust. It was so good. I have treasured this memory for all these years.
My prayer for my friend - Rest eternal grant to Richard, O Lord.
And light perpetual shine upon him. Amen
