Passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side, on Thursday October 11, 2018 at the age of 78 years.

Retired principal from the Waterloo County Regional School Board.

Beloved husband of Judy (nee Hollings). Loving father of Stephanie (Kyle Long), C. David Turner (Catherine née Cardiff) and Melissa Turner (Jamie Nicolaichuk). Proud Papa of Kathleen, Casey, Wyatt, Beckett, Simon, Alex, and Izzy. Dear brother of Penny (Terry Krawchyk) Merle (John O’Sullivan),  Faith (Frank Hieblinger) Charmaine (Lee Smith) and dear friend of Jef and Cheryl Fry. Predeceased by his sister Carolyn.

Will be missed by a large extended family, as well as many friends and colleagues. Neil spent many years enjoying quality family time on the farm outside of St. Agatha.  In his retirement, he spent happy hours golfing locally and for many winters in sunny New Smyrna Beach, Florida with the Oceanwalk Casual Golf Group.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Eric Hentschel  for over ten years of exceptional care and advice.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Ontario Lung Association. Messages and condolences can be made through tricitycremations.com.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Neil was a really solid guy. I remember him taking me and his grade eight students out on the sailboat on what turned into a very rough day. He handled that so well. Such a reliable steadfast guy. I'm sending you prayers. Hugs Judy.

Thinking of you all at such a difficult time. Neil will be missed so much- We are lucky to have gotten a chance to know him through Cath and Dave - and even get a round of golf in. A true gentleman, kind and easy to be around. Sending love.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Neil. I new Neil when I was a young student at Centennial public school in Waterloo from 1972 to 1981. I remember once finding a $5.00 dollar bill on the path to school, since it wasn't mine I turned it into the office. I had forgotten about the whole thing - but one day a knock came at our class door. I was told Mr.Turner wanted to speak to me. I was terrified, and trying to run through past actions seen and unseen and wondering what I had been caught up on. To my great relief, Mr.Turner gave me a big smile and handed me the $5.00 bill - that no one had claimed and thanked me for my honesty, bullet dodged. We were so fortunate to have professionals like Neil dedicated to education, and I know he touched many young peoples lives.

I'm so sorry to hear of Neil's passing. When I told my brothers, Tim and Peter, and my sister, Jane, they all fondly remembered the time you and Neil came to stay with us while our parents were away. They've asked me to pass on their condolences.
