With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Edward Schroeder at Grand River Hospital in his 81st year, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s and ALS. Loving husband to Ruth Schroeder (nee Marshall), for 58 years and devoted dad to Kevin Schroeder (Monica), Karen Sonnenberg (Thomas) and Steven Schroeder (Kelly). Proud Grandpa of Michael (Miriam), Brian (Megan), Jessica, James, Owen and Luke. Predeceased by his parents, Karl and Laura, and his sister Doris. He is survived by his sister Eileen, brothers Lorne, Harvey and Larry (Dorothy).
Carl was born and raised in Wiarton, Ontario and moved to Kitchener in 1959 to pursue a career with the Kitchener Police. Carl rose up the ranks to platoon sergeant and retired from the Waterloo Region Police Service in 1992. In their retirement, Carl and Ruth moved back to his childhood property in Wiarton, built a new home and continued to pursue his love for the outdoors.
Carl's warm heart, love of life and the great outdoors will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We love and miss you Carl.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at St. John’s United Church in Wiarton, Ontario on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 at 1:00 pm. If you plan on attending the services please rsvp to schroederfuneral@gmail.com.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Carl's memory to ALS Canada or Parkinson's Canada.
At his request, cremation has taken place.
