Her memory will be cherished by her children, Randy Steinman and Sheryl Plouffe of Kitchener, Lynne Steinman and Mark Dalpiaz of Powell River, B.C., Mike and Carolyn Steinman of Cambridge, and Tammy and Chris Standfast of Rice Lake. Carol is fondly remembered for teaching kindergarten throughout Cambridge for several decades. She was an active member of Preston Mennonite Church, and enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting. Carol loved spending time with her many friends and relatives in Waterloo Region, at the cottage at Chesley Lake, and at the condo in Gulf Shores.

My condolences to Gerry and the Steinman family. Carol was a wonderful friend from church, a kind person, who always had a cheerful smile on her face. She was beloved by many students she taught here in Cambridge, who all expressed their sadness over her passing on local FB sites. I shall keep your family in my prayers.

Dear Jerry and Family, and Ron and Pauline and Family: please accept my sincere sympathy on the death of your wife and sister and mother of Randy Steinman. Who we see so often on tv.
Jerry, you were such a great principal, perhaps you will remember my daughter Tina Bowlby. Carol attended Nith Valley church, as a young girl, where I am a member. Ron and Pauline were friends of my late husband Doug and I. Thinking of all of you during this difficult time. God Bless! Judie Bowlby

Dear Gerry and family - the Steinmans and the Cressmans, My heart is heavy with love and sadness for you all! Carol was such a special cousin to me - Her laughter and kindness will last forever in our minds. All the kindness she showed to Aunt Ada and your entire family was amazing! Carol and Gerry - when Randy was a toddler I spent a summer overnight in your home - and it remains a highlight in my childhood memories. With you I had my first experience at the beach and my first milkshake. I was so honored and thrilled that you invited me for an overnight to your house, just as Aunt Lucinda had done when Ron and Pauline's dear Cheryl was a toddler. with my sincere love and condolences, Cousin Lorrie Brubacher (lorrie@lbrubacher.com)

Carol and I met under quite funny circumstances. She was locked out of her daughter Tammy's house in Rice Lake which is right next door to me. It was a particularly cool spring day. I asked her to come in to my house for a cup of tea and to warm up but instead she chose to take a winter coat and pair of gloves and sit in Tammy's porch in order in keep an eye on their dogs. There was an instant connection. It was as if we had been friends for years. It was that event that brought Tammy and I to having a great relationship. God speed my dear Carol. You are now is our good lords hands. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

Carol was one of the cousins I most looked forward to seeing at our occasional Brubacher family get-togethers. Her positive approach to life, her twinkling eyes and marvelous sense of humor, her interest in people and her pride in her family were always a pleasure. My sympathies to Gerry and family. You'll have a big hole in your life, but you will have many memories that will stay with you forever. Carol's character, values and strengths live on in the descendants of your family and they will make a difference in many lives as she did.
