Peacefully passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 14, 2016 in his 62nd year.

Loving husband and best friend of Hughena Hughes. Dear father of Erika Rowe (Dave) and Lindsay Reilly (Marc). Loving grandfather of Brady, Abbey, Liam and Elena. Survived by his mother, Gwen Hughes, sister Elaine Anderson and brother Dave Hughes (Debbie). Predeceased by his father Harold Hughes and brother-in-law Dr. Cameron Anderson.

Chris was employed for many years as the photographer at the University of Waterloo.
Special thanks to Dr. Diane Humphrey and staff, the amazing nurses in ICU and Dr. Ali and Dr. Baben in Emergency.

As per Chris’ wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated.

My deepest sympathies Hughena, Erika and Lindsay. Chris had an amazing sense of humour and could always bring a chuckle with some of his witty responses. Although we have not seen each other in a number of years I've often thought of him as I searched the archives for his photos. Know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

I've know Chris for many years through our involvement with the University Photographers Association of America. He was always right up at the top of my list of members I wanted to hang out with more than just once a year at our symposiums. I sure wish your family lived a few minutes across town rather than three hours across the border. Boy, would he and I have had fun! I'm most grateful that photography allowed us to cross paths. Good times were had by all when Chris was in the room!

To Chris' family: I had the pleasure of knowing Chris through his work on campus - he will have a lasting mark on UW through his photos, his work, as well as through the relationships he developed. My thoughts are with you.

My sincerest condolences to the family! I've known Chris for years at UW (we're almost the same age) and enjoyed running into him on campus. He was always generous with his smiles and greetings and seemed to love his job. He will be missed.

I knew Chris from the University and he was always a pleasure to work with. I will remember him for all of the great photos he took, which capture such a huge part of this University's history, but even more for the big smile and friendly hello that he always had for everyone. My condolences.
