Christopher passed away, peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with diabetes, cancer and kidney disease.
Loving husband for 52 years of Barbara Ann (Herring). Dear father to Carla (Ivan Ing) and Ross (Valerie Peters). “Grampy” to Andrew and Meredith Ing. Remembered dearly by his cousin Peter Hughes (Joanne) and their children: Cathy, Cara-Lee, Darlene and David; In-law families, Sharon Nielsen and James Warburton, Debbie and Dan Holder, Kevin and Heather Herring, Brad and Connie Herring as well as nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Fredrick Norman Daniels (1996) and Evelyn Agnes Carlisle (2000).
Born at Toronto Western Hospital and raised in Queensville, Ontario, he attended Newmarket Secondary School, before returning to Toronto to train as a Tool and Die maker. Chris found his niche while working in sales for the moving industry and gained many friends through his gentle manner and thoughtfulness.
He fondly remembered his trips to Espanola to visit his Aunt Lenore, Uncle Doc and cousin Peter for snowy Christmases and canoeing at Loon Lake. He loved to escape the cold winter to the warm Florida sun to walk on the pier at Johns Pass with Barbara.
A music lover, Chris could spend hours at the stereo, listening to gospel standards, country and western, or 50’s & 60’s classics, loud enough for everyone in the house to hear.
He had a passion for cars and owned many in his collection of “must haves”. He loved restoring furniture, building birdhouses, his salt and fresh water fish aquariums, and bubbling ponds. Chris will be greatly missed and truly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at A. Roy Miller Chapel, 1695 St. Clair Ave. W. Toronto, Ontario 416-656-3585 on November 10th, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Private family internment will be at Prospect Cemetery in Toronto following the Celebration.
Donations in Chris’ memory can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital, the Diabetes Foundation or the Canadian Kidney Foundation.
