He is survived by the mother of his children, Erica Spindler, his twin daughters Kadence and Alexa, sisters, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Eye, Deborah Labrador, Doris Labradore and Donna Labradore; brothers, Robert Labradore (Glenna Hemmings), Joseph (Anne) Labradore; brother-in-law Mark as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean, Diane; and brothers, Lester, Charles Jr., and William. He was a member of Acadia First Nation and was proud of his Mi’kmaq heritage.
Darrell loved his twin daughters dearly and made sure everyone knew what a wonderful mother they have. He also had a very close, special relationship with is nieces Amanda and Chelsea. Known for cracking jokes, telling stories and having the gift of gab, his late-night phone calls will be missed by many of his relatives and friends. He had a passion for music and would spend countless hours playing his guitar on video messenger with family and friends from home. He also enjoyed books and reading. As an animal lover, Darrell would often drag home stray cats when he was little. His mom remembers always checking his pockets when doing laundry and finding anything from a toad to a snake. A carpenter by trade, Darrell loved his work and using his hands to create things. He was always taking things apart and tinkering with one project or another, seldom finishing one before starting another.
His family is comforted by the belief that his beloved and recently deceased eldest sister Jean, met him at the beginning of his journey to the Creator on the other side.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family.
