It is with great sadness that we announce that David, born on June 12, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, the eldest of seven siblings, passed away in the comfort of his home in Foxboro Green, Baden, Ontario, on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the age of 73.

Beloved husband and best friend of Linda (Bishop) for over 45 years. Loving father of John and his partner Mary Grace Pineda of Kitchener, ON; Reagan Honke and her husband Greg of Sarnia, ON; Patrick Skelton of Baden, ON and Erin Skelton of Montreal, QC. Adoring Grandpa of Shaylyn and Kyelum Skelton.

Predeceased by his parents Murray and Jean (Mullally) Skelton; his brother-in-law Roger Daum and the partner of his brother Matt, Paul Dupont.

Survived by brothers Matthew Skelton of Montreal, QC and Gregory Skelton of Toronto, ON;
sisters Brenda Carson (Jack) of Grand Rapids, MI; Jane Skelton of Montreal, QC; Andrea Podkowka (Steven) of Edmonton, AB and Leslie Skelton (Daum) of Calgary, AB. Nephews Mike Carson and Dylan Podkowka. Nieces Allie Carson (Chris Glushko) and Mary Sharkey.

Dave was an excellent student, fluent in both English and French and very proud of the fact that he aced his CPA exam on his first try. He started his career with a well-known accounting firm in Montreal. In his mid-twenties he was hired by an offshore investment company in Nassau, Bahamas and quickly rose through the ranks of the company. Four years into the ten years that he spent in Nassau, he met his love, Linda. Three years later, they married and had their first two children, then they left The Bahamas. They had a short stay in Missouri, his wife's home state, where child #3 was born. Then they moved to David's home province of Quebec where he became part owner of a small plastic company. The company grew and so did his family. Child #4 was born. For the next 22 years they lived in a lovely home on the side of Mont St. Hilaire and raised their family. Dave retired at the age of 55 after selling his company when they decided to start a new chapter in their lives together and moved to Baden, ON where he enjoyed his retirement.

To honor Dave's wishes there will be no formal funeral. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in the spring with a family reunion.

“God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts. Forever and Always.”

Linda - we haven't met but I read about Davids passing and wanted to convey my sympathies to you and your family. I knew David as a young boy growing up in Montreal. His parents, Jean and Murray were close friends of my mother and father, Nancy and Munro Armitage and we often shared family gatherings. As is often the case, in our late teens, we went our own way and I lost touch with David. I had no idea that you were in the Waterloo Region (my wife and have lived in Waterloo since 1981) or I'm sure we would have made arrangements to meet. I have only good memories of David and his family. In fact, I was struck by how much his picture in the paper looked liked Murray. I was saddened to learn that a childhood acquaintance was so close by and neither of us realized it. My sympathies on your loss, Linda.

Dear Howard, For sure if Dave had known you lived so close we would have gotten together! We moved to the Baden area in 2001. I knew your Mom. She was such a strong woman with a wonderful since of humor. I truly enjoyed her company. She was part of the Skelton family and I thought of her as one of Jean's sisters. She was also included in any family gatherings at our home in St. Hilaire. She once gave me a little miniature white porcelain knick-knack of a garden flower basket with a little butterfly on it as a Christmas gift. I loved it and it found a spot on a knick-knack shelf in our kitchen in St. Hilaire and it is still on that same shelf in our kitchen here in Baden. I always think of her when it catches my eye. Thank you for your sympathy,
Linda Skelton
