Donald Buckingham
1938 – 2016

Don passed away peacefully at Innisfree House on June 13, 2016. Beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Nancy (Parsons). Loving dad of Christine (Terry) and Pamela. Also survived by sister Bonnie Nielsen (Ole) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Jeffrey (1977) and parents Tom and Reta Buckingham.

Don graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1962. He practiced as a manager of Dell Chemists in Brantford before co-owning The Prescription Shoppe in Cambridge until his retirement in 1998. Don came out of retirement to assist as a Pharmacy Technician at Preston Medical Pharmacy until 2014. He enjoyed making new friends at the Cambridge YMCA and for a short time, volunteered for their wellness program.

To honour Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Don during a Celebration of Life held at the Galt Country Club (750 Coronation Blvd., Cambridge) on Sunday, June 26th from 2 – 5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Innisfree House, CMH Medical Daycare, CCAC or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

I have very fond memories of my times with Don Buckingham. I wish Nancy and the girls my sincerist condolences. I lived on Woodvale Court around the corner from the Buckinghams for many years. I was fortunate in 1976 to start working part time as a high school student at the Prescription Centre with Don and Jack. They were happy fun times. My experiences there defined my future career as a pharmacist which I have practiced since graduating in 1982. Don was very kind giving me rides to and from the store and I learned much more than "how to be a great pharmacist" from him. Don had a great sense of humour and love of life. Take care.
