Don, beloved son of Kanichi and Aki [Nakamura] Kishibe, beloved brother to Kaye {Mary} and Kenzo {Giselle Lacombe}, and beloved husband to Camellia {Duhaime}, passed away from a heart attack at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.
Don was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His family sailed to Japan in August 1947 where, in less than a year, his father died in an industrial accident. The mother and three sons returned to Canada in 1954, settling in London, Ontario.
Don astonished his mother by teaching himself to read at the early age of three. Acquiring and sharing knowledge remained a lifelong source of pleasure.
Don established himself as a photographer for the Kumano Studio and was later recruited as a medical photographer for the large medical teaching centre known as the London Health Sciences Centre. He soon became well-respected and highly valued by the medical community. Don eventually taught medical photography at the London community college.
Don was also passionate about his hobby, competitive target shooting. He became a member of the Canadian National Team for five years. His other strength in this sport was as a lifetime official, where one of his fondest memories was officiating at the Montreal Olympics.
Don will be remembered for his quiet steadfastness and relentless strive for excellence in all aspects of his life. He is profoundly missed.
