Dwight Irwin (affectionately known as Poppy) passed away peacefully on Saturday November 16th, 2019  surrounded by his loving family, at 62 years of age.

Born in Toronto on May 7, 1957 to John and Mary (nee Gilmour) Irwin, Dwight was a hard-working man with a passion for perfection. He enjoyed time with his family, friends and neighbours, especially his grandchildren.

He was a devoted, loving husband and best friend to Debbie (nee McCrorey) for 25 years. He was a cherished Step-Dad of Shelly Friesen (John Friesen) and Christopher Nickason ( Sarah Noseworthy- Nickason). And a proud ‘Poppy’ of Bryce, Luke, Kale, Meadow and Finnley. Dwight was also known as “Uncle Fantastico” to his younger nieces and nephews. His one of a kind uncle wisdom and jokes will be missed by many.

Dwight was beloved brother of Larry, Sandra, Joanne, Arlene, John Alan, and Lisa. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Irwin, his brother Larry Irwin, his sisters Sandra Robinson and Lisa Irwin.

At Dwight’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Homewood Suites, 800 Jamieson Pkwy, Cambridge, Ontario.

Dwight battled cancer with the bravery of a soldier. In lieu of flowers as expressions of sympathy, he asked that we continue his fight through donations to Canadian Cancer Society, London Health Science Centre, Hospice Wellington or Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Messages and condolences may be left for his family at www.tricitycremations.com.

Good by my friend , in the military we prefer to say brother as Dwight was to me. Dwight was my first room mate in cfb Petawawa We had both recently completed basic training in Cornwallis Nova Scotia. It was so long ago. We had gone separate ways as is common in the army due to postings etc, We had recently met up this summer for coffee and a chat. I had met his lovely wife Debbie and it was just like we were never separated . We had so many good memories to share. We had gone thru a lot in a short time , and I will forever remember his kindness and humor and the good times we shared... CHIMO old friend. You are in my memories forever
