Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Sunday November 1st, 2020, formerly of 409 Mill Street Kitchener, Gerald Schmitt, age 76.

Lovingly remembered by his sister Marlene Snider of Elmira. Uncle of Steven Snider and wife Brenda and Dale Snider and wife Kelly.

The memorial burial service to celebrate Gerald’s life of love and service to his family and God and others will be held privately at First Mennonite Church.

Donations may be made to Grand River Hospital Foundation as expressions of sympathy.

I knew Gerry as a good colleague during my time as the manager of Bent's Cameras (Stanley Park Mall, Kitchener) in the early 1980's. We worked well together and socialized, based on a shared interest in photography. Gerry related well with our clientele, and his prior retail experience and social skills served him well in our store setting. He was a Volkswagen aficionado too, evinced in pride of ownership is his orange Super Beetle. Although we lost contact in the years after Bent's, I do recall meeting once by happenstance, and I thought of Gerry through the subsequent decades. Please accept my condolences at his passing; Gerry's kind-heartedness and integrity left a lasting impression with me.
