He was a hard worker and an outdoors man. With his 5 boys; Paul (Kim), Terry (Sheila), Timmy, Michel (Kelly) and Serge, he shared and passed on his talents and knowledge of carpentry, fishing, joy of reading, love of nature, the French language and his “Sakett” way of life.
His grandchildren; Justin, Christopher, Jessica, Melanie, Samantha, Natalie, Lisa, Amy, Ryan, Britney, Aleyna and Caleb will love and treasure all of the memories they had with him at his “FARM” in Northern Ontario where they were able to share in his joy of nature and his Western way of life. Pépère was also loved and cherished by his 7 Great-grandchildren.
Gilles is predeceased by his parents Leo and Aline (Laurin) Labelle, his brother Gerald and sister Yolande. He will be missed by his sisters Marie Mainville (Louis) from Quebec, Diane Bissonnette (Marcel) from Sudbury, Lucille Robidoux (Rejean) from Sudbury and his brother Roger (Anne Pilkey) from Chelmsford and many nieces and nephews.
Despite his medical conditions he was able to enjoy his retirement watching his grandchildren/great-children grow. Over the past 15 years he has been able to contribute, guide and help in the building of Paul’s family cottage on Manitoulin Island. With his love of the Island the boys have chosen that this will be his resting place.
Cremation has taken place and his children are planning a Celebration of Life (a Labelle Jamboree) to honour the legacy of their beloved FATHER. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 16th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion (Galt) Branch 121, 4 Veterans Way, Cambridge, Ontario. Together we will share happy stories and joyfully reminisce about a life well lived.
