Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, age 92.
Beloved aunt of Jennifer Beresford (Andrew), Chris Whiteley (Anita), James Krueger (Merle), John Krueger (Terri), David Krueger (Lisa), Janet Krueger, Ann Matties (Victor), and Mary McTague (Chris). Survived by brother-in-law Jack (Barbara), as well as great nephews and nieces, and great great nieces. Predeceased by her dear husband James (2016), her brother Robert Whiteley (2009), and sister-in-law Darlene (2003).
Born in Galt in 1929, Doris was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Whiteley. She attended Preston High School and was active in the Girl Guide movement. Doris was employed as an office manager at the Hespeler-St. Mary’s Wood Specialties Co. from 1944 to 1974, and following her marriage to Jim in 1969, as a supportive farmer’s wife. Doris was an honourary board member of Ellis Chapel in Puslinch and a faithful parishioner of St. John’s Anglican Church, Preston. A keeper of both family and local history, her prodigious memory of people, places, and dates, along with her razor-sharp wit, will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Thank you to the staff of Fairview Suites Retirement Home and Cambridge Memorial Hospital Medical C for their compassionate care.
At Doris’ request, her ashes will be interred at Parklawn Cemetery, Cambridge in a private ceremony.
Memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
