It is with great sadness we announce the passing of János (John) Palovics on September 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in his 84th year.

In Canada, János was a cherished member of the Weyers family and will be lovingly remembered by Shawn, Steffany, Destinee (Kevin), Brayden, Landen, Lyric and Luca and their families. He is sadly missed by his surviving sister-in-law, niece, nephew and their families in Hungary. He was more than a friend; he was a role model, a mentor and a loving "Adopted Grandfather".

He was predeceased by his Father István Palovics, his Mother Magdolna Weinacht and his brother István.

János was born in Bia (a little village near Budapest) Hungary in 1933. He obtained his trade in welding in Budapest then, in 1956, János left his country during the Hungarian Revolution to come live in Canada.

He had a love of dancing, photography, fishing, nature and socializing with many good friends who will also miss him dearly.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Grand Valley Golf and Country Club on Sunday October 15, 2017 from 12p.m. to 4 p.m.

I have great memories of John, and somehow they all include food! From great, filling soups, to delicious strüdel, John always had a way of bringing people together, and making their lives full and interesting!

We’ll miss you, John.

Thank you John for the best Sauerkirschstrudel ever - I remember you well and sending you much love to the other side. And soon I'm coming back to Ontario <3

The world is a slightly less colorful place without Jan and we will miss him greatly. I can't pick up a welding stick without hearing his exasperated Hungarian accent shouting "Push! Push! Push!" as he taught me the finer points of welding old tractor parts together for yet another season. He also introduced us to the delights of Lecho and sausage, smoked over a wood fire Gypsie-style and berry strudel, baked on a tray of his own design and fabrication. Next spring we will plant the Paprika seeds that he brought us from Hungary and toast his memory and our good fortune to have known him. Thank you Jan.
