December 6, 1938 - April 2, 2021

John passed away at home on Friday, April 2, 2021 at the age of 82 after a lengthy illness.

Beloved husband of Else (nee Annel) for over 58 years. Father of Ralph, Jorg (Brenda), Frank (Julie), Michael, Christine Hutchings (Greg) and the late Markus Mardian.

Predeceased by his brother Horst, and survived by his sister Marlene.

Cherished Opa to Benjamin, Emily, Jacob, Natalie, Claudia, Jackson, Anna, Garrett, Miranda, Monica, Kameron and Sarah.

A Soccer player for life, he played professionally for many years in Germany.  After he got married, John, Else, and their six children immigrated to Canada in 1974 from Germany in search of a better life. John started and ran a gas station business in Petrolia, Ontario before moving to Kitchener in 1979. After this time he started working for Mercedes-Benz Kitchener where he won numerous awards for outstanding salesman and he stayed with that company for over 35 years. He was “a name friends recommend”.

Cremation has taken place. John’s family will receive relatives and friends for a Celebration of Life at the Dedication Center at Williamsburg Cemetery at a later date once gathering restrictions have been eased. Please bookmark this page and check back for future announcements.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Center would be appreciated.

The biggest influence of my life passed away this Good Friday. My dad John was a superstar in the world of Mercedes-Benz and often reminisced about his years in the car business. Having worked alongside him for so many years I was proud to see his many awards and accolades from his peers. All that aside he was still my father and I had the opportunity to spend double the time with him because we also worked together. I will miss him forever and just know he is riding in a big Mercedes-Benz limousine on his journey toward the stars.

Dad - I will miss you beyond any words that I can express. I hope you know that the love between a father and daughter is forever. I am so proud to say that I am my father's daughter.

Eva and I would like to offer our sincere condolences to Else, Frank, and family.
I had the pleasure of working with John Mardian for almost 20 years. John was a gifted salesperson. He was also wonderful story teller. Seeing his success up close taught me that there's no limit to what can be accomplished in the M-B world.
RIP, my friend!
