John (Bill) Wilson Donnachie

Passed away  on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
 
Survived by his loving wife of 70 years; Mary (née Patterson), son John Donnachie (Lily), daughter Barbara Enright (David) granddaughters Becky Wood (Ken) and Jennifer Enright, grandsons Andrew Donnachie and Alexander Donnachie and great granddaughter Arya. Sadly missed by his brother Rowan Donnachie and his sisters Margaret Trupp and Jean Donnachie.
 
Born in Ayrshire, Scotland and immigrated to Canada as a small child with his parents and brother. He spent his youth in New Brunswick and attended the University of New Brunswick, School of Social Work in Halifax and Mount Allison University.
 
John worked in mental health services in New Brunswick, Sudbury General Hospital and in various capacities with the Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region for over 30 years. He also served in the Army Militia as an officer.
 
After retirement John engaged in some volunteer work while enjoying golf and curling. He was a member Trillium United Church in Preston, Ontario.
 
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.  Please visit John's obituary notice on Facebook.

Dear Mary and family. Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you all. I was sad to hear of Uncle Bill’s death. I remember our many ‘Sear clan’ reunions with pride and happiness! Dear Barb and Dave and family. What I remember of your Dad when we were teens is he never raised his voice. He was a kind and welcoming person. Hang onto your many good memories. May he rest in peace. Our condolences to you and family.

I have very fond memories of Bill from working at F&CS beginning in 1976. He was a class act, respected by all staff. My condolences to his family.
