With great sadness, we share that John Hrbak passed away peacefully with his loving wife and best friend Linda holding his hand. On August 6, 2022, after his hard-fought battle with Congestive Heart Failure, John remained strong until the very end.

John is survived by his wife and partner of 58 years, his three children, Lisa (Jamie) Laws, Andrew (Tamara) and Dean (Kristen), and six loving grandchildren, Anna, Evan, Savannah, Kohen, Caden and Gwyneth. His dear sisters are Elizabeth Coughlin (Tom) and Patricia Martin. He was predeceased by his parents, Andy and Helen Hrbak, brother Rick, sister-in-law Karen and brother-in-law Dan.

John was a proud member of the Plumber’s and Fitters Local 527 and served his apprenticeship in Windsor where John and Linda first met and began their family. In 1974 they moved to Saugeen Township, where John started crafting one of his many skills as a part-time farmer. John and Linda eventually moved “to town”, Port Elgin, where he flourished in another of his hobbies of being a skilled woodworker. Summers were spent at The Trailer on Manitoulin Island where he loved to get up early and take to Lake Kagawong where he would hit his secret fishing hot spots that he only shared with his sons and grandsons.

The family participated in a private viewing. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 23rd at the Hespeler Legion 272 from 1:00pm – 4:00 pm.

John’s urn will be put to rest in the Port Elgin Cemetery.

Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Organ Transplant Unit @ LHSC or Dialysis Unit at Grand River Hospital would be appreciated.

Special thanks to Nurse Hazim, who visited regularly, Dr. Yip and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Vitou and PD Nurse Katherine at Grand River Hospital. Also to Nurse Patricia at Mindemoya Hospital on Manitoulin Island.

Until I’m with you again, My Love. - Linda

Sad to hear of Johns passing, he was a great guy! Have many good memories of conversations with John at the Wismer House. Was always amazed at the unique items he would come up with whether out of metal or wood! I’m sure you will have lots to remember him by! Rest peacefully Herbie!

Your more than welcome Aunt Linda and Family. My Mom will be going for knee surgery (tentatively scheduled for October 23, 2022) Hopefully when she sees you, she will be kicking up her heels. Everyone is heartbroken over Uncle John's passing, but his and Your fighting spirit is and was inspirational. Love You All Too

Yes, Deborah, the "Union Guys" are definitely banging on the Euchre Table. What a pair they were. ❤️

I am sorry for your loss Linda, Lisa, Andrew and Dean. Johnny and all of you were such a big part of our family throughout the 70's & early 80's given you were our closest neighbors and friends. I have more memories than I can recall of haying, snowmobiling and playing Pong at your home. I recall Johnny trying to drive his old VW beetle to Paisley in a whiteout to buy cigarettes and getting stuck between two giant snowdrifts. Anyway, all my love and I still think of all of you whenever I drive past our old farms on the top of the 2nd of Saugeen Township.

Thank you to everyone for expressng their condolences . Your kind words about my father mean alot to all of us. We all miss him terribly. I am , only now, starting to come to grips with his passing. When I run across an issue I need some advice about, Dad is still the first person I think about calling. Love you Dad. Hopefully we will all see you again someday.
