Passed away peacefully at Riverside Glen in Guelph on November 8, 2022 at the age of 86 years.

Jorgen will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Jonna (Olesen) of over 65 years.  He was the proud father of Susanne (Gary Coolen) of Fall River, Stig (Jayne Lassen) of Port Elgin and Janet (Andrew Johnson) of Puslinch.  He will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Kurt, Kaitlin, Kristian, Liam and Aodhan and great-grandchildren Brinley and Luke.  He is predeceased by his parents Ellen Cecilie and Mogens Borge Lassen and sister Inger Rasmussen and survived by his brother Mogens Lassen.

Jorgen was born and raised in Denmark where he learned to be a machinist.  He emigrated to Chateauguay, Quebec, in July 1966 with Jonna, Susanne and Stig and where Janet was born.  He worked for a number of companies over the years such as Canadian Vickers, McGill University and Inco Mining Corp. in Sudbury.  In 1970 he joined Ontario Hydro, Nuclear division and moved the family to Ontario.  Jorgen worked there as a mechanical maintainer until he retired in November 1993.  Jorgen was an active member of the Port Elgin Masonic Lodge and the legion for many years and in his retirement loved to play golf, travelling south in the winters and spending time with family.

Jorgen’s life will be celebrated by his immediate family.

Donations in Jorgen’s memory may be made to Parkinson Canada, as expressions of sympathy.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237.  Please visit Jorgen's obituary notice on Facebook.

I first met Jorgen when I started at Bruce A on D Crew in 1979. He was the go to machinist if you needed a job done right the first time with very close tolerances. I admired his integrity and grit. Although it has been many years, I still remember him. My condolences to Stig and the family.

Our deepest sympathies to Jonna, Stig and Family. Jorgy and I worked together at Bruce A where I witnessed his fine machinist skills and as for his golf skills that is another story.
