Larry John Dickson

Passed away at Freeport Health Centre on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at the age of 65 years.

Larry was a carpenter by trade for most of his working career.

Loving brother of William (Wilhelmina), Glenn, Janet, Grant (Judith) and Lisa. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and friends, especially by his friend “landscaper” Dave. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Lois Dickson and by a brother–in-law Greg Schmidt.

Special thank you to nurse, Maryann for her kindness and care given to Larry.

Cremation has taken place. Larry's family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, July 10 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Kitchener Waterloo in the Viking Suite, 105 King Street East, Kitchener. There is parking on site which will be covered for guests attending the celebration. There will be a short service at 6 p.m. with a bar and light refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and would be appreciated by the family. Messages and condolences may be made through tricitycremations.com or 519-772-1237.

My condolences to the Dickson family. There were two things that I remember most about Larry. He had a passion for the sport of boxing. He was the only person I new that did. Secondly, Larry use to "loan" money out to people's. Thought it odd so I knew him well enough to approach him on the practice. I asked him if be ever had a problem with getting the debt returned. His reply was simple. Small price to pay as to whether you can trust said person or not. Made an impression on me. Which some 40 years later I still remember.
Much like Larry. I was born in Bridgeport. Lived in Bridgeport. And, will likely die in Bridgeport. I guess you can debate the significance. I still walk by the old red brick bungalow on Stanley from time to time. It brings back memories. Most a little on the foggy side. Like the afternoon that he, Art and I spent at Elmira Raceway. Good times. I will save that story for the memorial.
