Our proud Newfoundlander has transitioned to seas where loving family are waiting with open arms to guide him to the best lobster catch of the day.

Lloyd, our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, peacefully left us, on October 26, 2021, at the grand age of 90. He is survived by his sons Daniel (Betty), Michael (Lisa), Christopher, daughter Catharine Hilker (Jack), and his grandchildren and great grandchildren that he treasured and dearly loved.  Also left to mourn are his cherished partner, Cheryl Brintnell and siblings, Muriel Touchings, Anne Dawson, Joe, Barb, Sue Burr, Bill, and Ruth Walker.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Effie Carter.

Lloyd was a Korean War veteran and will be fondly remembered as an intelligent, outgoing, giving person. Following his retirement, he spent many idyllic summers sailing the waters of Georgian Bay.

In accordance with Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family internment will occur at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy and in remembrance of Lloyd’s military service, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 272 Hespeler Poppy Fund, 26 Schofield St, Cambridge, Ontario N3C 1Y3 would be greatly appreciated by his family.  Or donate directly to the RCL Poppy Fund via: https://www.legion.ca/donations.  Or donate to one of  Lloyd’s favourite charities The Salvation Army.

Rest in peace, Lloyd.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com.  Please visit Lloyd's obituary notice on Facebook.

I will always remember and cherish the loving smile Lloyd had coming to the rink to watch Rebecca and Lesley skate. Growing up at the rink I remember always appreciating his kind and caring personality. Truly such an amazing person! Sending all of the love to his family and loved ones!

I knew Nick from minor hockey at the Hespeler Arena many years ago. A very nice man. I used to see him at Fridays night suppers occasionally in the Hespeler Legion.Nick was always friendly. Saddened to read of his passing.I'm sure he will be missed.Condolences to Chris and the Carter family. All the best during these tough times. Respectively from Hespeler. Lori & Jock Stoddart.

Regarding Lloyd's passing.

First off our family expresses our sincerest condolences and deepest appreciation for the continuous, and long term, love and service that Cheryl Brintnell provided to Lloyd. They became and were a grand couple, who enjoyed and created a fulfilling life together. As Lloyd's health began to fail him, at an ever increasing rate, Cheryl never waivered, and was his caregiver until his death. Cheryl was with him when he passed. Her devotion to Lloyd was quite astonishing, Lloyd was very blessed to have Cheryl.

Also with Lloyd on his passing was his grandson Liam, and via phone myself and my wife, and my children and grandchildren. We talked to him until life left him.

Lloyd's passing was very sudden but thankfully very peaceful. It was exceptionally sad, but as his health was failing fast, relieving at the same time.

We thank everyone for their kind thoughts and words.

🌿 Sorry, I am a little late but just found out about Lloyd's passing. He was a long time friend of my Mother & Father, Cyril & Elizabeth(Lizzie) Maher who were both from Harbour Breton Newfoundland but have also passed away.
I remember as a young child spending time at Lloyd's home or visiting at Bill & Effie's home.
Over the years he visited my Mom & Dad many times. Re-telling old stories over again and I would always hear lots of chuckles.  Lloyd was always cheery & kind. He was present for my family & came and sat by my Father's bedside when my Dad was in palliative care. Bless his soul!
Over the last 10 years or so my husband David & myself ran into him quite a few times either at a restaurant or sometimes at a mall in or around the Kitchener area. He always remembered my name and inquired about how my older siblings were doing.
I wish I would have known he had passed so I could have payed him the same respect he paid to my Mother & Father.
RIP Dear Lloyd. You will always be remembered. 🎚
To Lloyd's family I send our deepest sympathy.  Much love to you all...
Joanne (Maher) Byers & David.
