With a heavy heart, the Morrell Family says goodbye to their beloved Mum, Marlene Morrell. After a lengthy battle with lung cancer Marlene passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on Saturday, November 5th, 2022, at the age of 79. Predeceased by her Mother, Phyllis Mary Jenkins nee Andrews and her Father John Jenkins. Predeceased by her husband William Harley David Morrell, and cherished Mum to Steven Morrell, Tracey Morrell (Doug Funk), Tanya Morrell (Robert Bordman), and Brent Morrell (Nancy Gray). Adored Nana to Shelby (Kyle); Madison, Mason; Lachlan and Great Nana to Hudson and Hunter. Honourable mention to her lifelong family and closest friend Valerie Tovey. She is survived by her children, grands, great-grands, nieces and nephews.
Marlene was born in Bristol, England and emigrated with her family to Toronto at a very young age, where she proudly became a Canadian citizen. This is where she met our father and grew her family, eventually making their way to Hespeler in Cambridge. Her children, grands and great-grands were everything to her. This was evident in her kindness, generosity, love and on holidays, her favourite time of year Christmas when there were over-the-top celebrations. Throughout her working life, she worked for Kmart and Comfort Inn. Once “retired” she kept busy visiting her children, grandchildren and looked forward to the summer at her trailer. Lots of good conversations were had and memories were made with family and friends. Marlene will be fondly remembered for her strength, generosity, huge heart and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was known in all circles as “Mum.”
In keeping with Marlene’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Family and friends who wish to honour Marlene's memory, in place of flowers can donate to a local Cancer chapter, the Canadian Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of their choice.
She will always be loved and will never be forgotten.
