Keith was born in Montreal, Quebec, August 17th, 1942. He served in the army while in Quebec for a few years. Keith was also an excellent photographer. Photography was one of his favourite hobbies. He later moved to Ontario and settled in Kitchener. Keith and Patricia were married in the early 1970’s. They had a daughter, Ruth Ivey, to complete their family. Keith enjoyed his family and friends and was a hard worker. Keith worked at the Grand River Hospital as an Addiction Counselor for many years. After his retirement he worked for a couple of years at a Home Depo in Kitchener until his strength began to decline. During his retirement Keith loved taking long walks and reading his science fiction novels while enjoying Timmy’s Coffee. He also enjoyed cooking meals and willingly helped with other household chores. Keith’s wife, Patricia, had health issues for many years, sadly. Keith cared for her until it became too difficult due to his own declining health. Patricia was then by necessity moved into a nursing home. Keith carried on his life as well as he could from that point and always missed Patricia. Keith loved speaking to his daughter, Ruth, on the phone often, right up to the day he passed away. It comforted him because she lives a long distance away. Keith passed away peacefully on February 24th, 2022.
Patricia was born in London, Ontario on January 26th, 1955. She was the eldest of three children. She had a brother, Bob Rowlands, who passed away in mid-December, 2015, and a sister, Elaine Wake (Rowlands), who is still living. Patricia was a wonderful, thoughtful person. She was a good listener and always ready to do what she could for her family or friends. She often wrote letters, before there was email, that were delightful and special. She had a great sense of humour. She always appreciated even the smallest favours done for her. Patricia sadly suffered poor physical health and mental stress. In spite of her suffering, she continued to overcome in her life and often showed a sweet joy and faith in God. She was very talented at painting scenery, birds, and flowers. Family and friends have some of these treasures displayed in their homes. She enjoyed doing other lovely crafts as well. One craft I remember is her working with decorating ceramics. She did lovely work. Patricia loved to sing. As a teenager she won 1st place in a singing competition. She sang in a Christmas Concert Choir at her nursing home about one year before she passed away. She had many other opportunities to sing during her life and usually just sang for enjoyment.
Patricia and Keith had a wonderful, close bond of love during their years together. Family and friends are grateful and thankful for both of them. Knowing they are in Heaven is a great comfort.
Patricia and Keith will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by their daughter Ruth Ivy White of Dawson City, Yukon, by her sister Elaine Wake and husband, Jim Wake, nephews James and Jonathan Wake, Patricia’s firstborn daughter, Tammy Lee Patterson, Keith's best friend, Fred and Patricia’s Church friends. If anyone has been missed in this paragraph, please accept our apologies.
