January 26, 1940 – June 21, 2016

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Pat at her Waterloo home, with her loving husband of 52 years, James, by her side, on June 21, 2016, at the age of 76.

She is pre-deceased by her father Joseph, her mother Mary and brother Joe.  Beloved mother of James and Kimberley, Mark and Tammy of Waterloo.  Devoted Grandmother to Aaron, Connor, Evan and Meaghan.  Pat will be sadly missed by her brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and a great network of friends.

In her working life Pat was a dedicated employee having worked for several banking institutions.  She had many and varied interests outside of work; a talented seamstress and crafter. Her work has travelled the globe finding homes in the four corners of the earth.  She devoted many hours to making lap quilts for children at the Grand River Cancer Centre.  In her life in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, she enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends, sharing laughs and campfire songs.

Pat’s dedication to a life in the service of others was closest to her heart.  She volunteered innumerable hours, freely giving of herself to help anyone in need; from simply being an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on, her loving, caring heart knew no limits. She had the most room in her incredible heart for her grandchildren, spending countless hours at swimming pools, hockey rinks, baseball diamonds and curling rinks cheering them on to victory and putting band-aids on bruised knees and broken hearts.

Cremation has taken place.  At Pat’s request there will be no formal service.  A celebration of her life will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 145 Dearborn Place, Waterloo, ON.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Mary’s Cardiac Rehab Centre, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

You left us too soon.  Goodbyes are not forever.  Goodbyes are not the the end.  They simply mean we’ll miss you till we meet again.

My best friend, the best friend anyone ever had...... died on Tuesday. I'm hurting so much. We had been friends for over forty years, not only friends, but we watched each other's children grow into loving, caring adults. She was "Auntie Pat" to my children, Kevin and Kari. We shared the good times, travelling, camping, just being with each other, and we shared the bad times, injury, illness and deaths of loved ones. Losing her is almost too much to bear, but she will always be with me and my family. We will meet again some day, Pat. I love you......now and forever.

Pat made us each a framed needlepoint called Sisters By Heart. Here is what it said..... We've shared so much laughter, shared so many tears - We've a spiritual kinship that grows stronger each year. We're not sisters by birth, but we knew from the start - God put us together to be sisters by heart. Love and miss you, Pat....

Pat joined our family fifty-one years ago when she married our brother Jim. We've lost a kind and loving sister-in-law. She will be greatly missed by everyone in our family.

Uncle Jim, Jim and Kim, Mark and Tammy, and your families; I know the pain you're feeling right now is overwhelming. I'm devastated that I can't be there in person right now, but money and distance prevent that. Know that I'm here in Edmonton, sharing a bit of your pain, but mostly remembering decades of smiles and laughter and stories and songs. I very truly have no bad memories of any time I've spent with your family.

In my mind, and in my heart, I will always have an absolutely wonderful "Auntie Pat."
