After a long battle with cancer Piret died at Grace Hospital the day before her 67th birthday.

Born May 2nd, 1952 in Toronto to Vilma (Oad) Talpak and Herbert Talpak she is the beloved sister and sister-in-law to Karl Talpak and Monika Uesson Talpak, Maret Talpak and Bill Patterson and Ingrid Talpak and Bob Sikora. Much loved aunt to Mark and Sabrina Sikora and beloved cousin to Liisa Dobereiner Ullman.

Piret was an extraordinarily gifted woman who master all things that she turned her hand at, from needlework, gardening, sewing, cooking and house renovations. She started her working life as a florist and later worked at The Bay in Document Management where she made many long lasting friendships. She ended her working life as a gardening consultant returning to her first love of flowers and gardens.

A prolific knitter she would knit hundreds of scarves, mitts and hats a year to give as gifts to the nurses that looked after her mother and later to the nurses that looked after her during her battle with cancer and other patients that she made friends with.

She had a wide range of knowledge and would willing help anyone that asked for her advice. She loved to talk and to have fun. A pet owner since her teen years she had owned many cats and dogs which she cherished. She enjoyed movies, traveling and getting together with her friends and family.

A Memorial service will be held at Centennial Park Conservatory, 151 Elmcrest, Etobicoke on Sunday, May 12 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations to Breast Cancer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

My condolences to the Talpak family. I met Piret in 1989 where we were both being interviewed at the same time for our jobs at HBC. We instantly bonded and became friends and recently celebrated together at the Grace hospital 30 years of friendship. Piret helped me through some hard times and always gave me support and encouragement. I found her to be an encyclopedia of knowledge especially in relationships and health remedies and was always good at what she did and I admired her sooo much!
In later years we always gave her hope and encouragement to beat this awful cancer. Took her out to shop, errands and lots of appointments. She was such an optimist and a fun person to be around. She had a great knack of telling fun and entertaining stories and it continued to be her trademark. I will miss her random calls where she would call me for no reason other than to share her thoughts and the type of day she had. I will always miss her very much. You are now in God's kingdom at peace where there is no pain no suffering.
With much love and affection, Robert
