It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather, Robert Schindler.  Bob passed away suddenly, on September 6th, in his 83rd year, after a brief battle with cancer and complications following surgery.

Bob was a dedicated family man, a former long-time employee of Waterloo North Hydro, a pioneer contributor to the Wonders of Winter Lights Festival, and an avid golfer.
Bob will remain forever in the hearts of his wife, Nancy (Coughlin), and his sons, Glen (Shelley) and Scott (Allison). He was sadly predeceased by Glen and Scott’s mom, Joan (Fox).  Bob will also be fondly remembered by Nancy’s children, Chris Coughlin (Lori) and Jenn Hesson (Garrett).

When he wasn’t on the golf course, he loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and over many years, he rarely missed a game.  His grandchildren, Madison, Josh, Nicole, Ryan, Cameron, Taylor and Nolan will miss their most treasured fan.

Bob is survived by his brother, Ronald Schindler (Pauline).  He was predeceased by his parents, Edna and Gordan, as well as his infant brother, Kenneth.

After cremation, Bob will be interned during a private ceremony at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo.  His family and friends are invited to Celebrate his Life on September 17th, from 1-4 p.m., at the Royal Room of Golf Steakhouse (598 Lancaster Street, Kitchener), a place where many family memories were made.

Our sincere condolences to your families. "Shin" was my foreman for most of my career at WNH. He made coming to work fun. He always made you feel good about the work that you and others did. Every morning we had a great conversations about our kids, hockey ,golf and Myrtle Beach. I once needed to get a skate blade replaced in Kitchener during working hours, Shin said thats no problem..." I sent you to Breslau and you went through Kitchener to save time." "You gotta play tonight." On another occasion we managed to drop a large man hole cover on my foot, crushing my steel toed boot and toe at the same time. We always got a good laugh out of that one for many years later. After he retired I always found myself asking "what would Shin do in this case." He was a GREAT guy... Again our sincere condolences... Paul and Lori Hayes

"Shin" was a great guy! I had the pleasure of working with him for many years at WNH. He had such an amazing work ethic and sense of humour, everyone loved him. I was so sad I missed his celebration of life at the Golf. My sincere condolences to his family.
