It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce Robert Raymond Fanjoy lost his battle with cancer on January 26 at the age of 51.

He is survived by his heart-broken wife and best friend Pam, daughter Taylor, son Lucas, and
granddaughter Evolyn, who arrived just in time to spend some quality time with her “buddy”.

He could not have loved his parents-in-law, Bill and Avis Quarrie, more if they were his own. Rob was an amazing father who loved to spend time with his kids watching them excel at whatever they did. He was beyond proud that both children have chosen to be first responders and was happy to almost see them both achieve those goals. He will certainly be with each of them in spirit as they graduate. Rob was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed endless hours on the rugby pitch, soccer field, swimming pool and hockey rink. There was nowhere Rob would rather be than with his family and friends.

Rob will be missed by his many friends who were a great source of joy and entertainment throughout his life and a comfort near the end. He enjoyed many campfires, hikes, fishing trips, dinners, parties, BBQs, card games, car rides and trips with the friends he knew he was very lucky to have.

Rob was an avid outdoorsman who particularly loved camping, canoeing and fishing. His yearly visits to Algonquin will be continued by his family as that was his “happy place” and we will continue to find solace along Highway 60. An animal lover, he trained his Boxers to be near perfect pets. Taz, Darby and Cash will be waiting for him to go for a nice long walk when he arrives.

Special thanks to Dr. Hahn and Nurse Ram, the ParaMed nurses, as well as all of the support staff working out of the LHIN Clinic. Your support and guidance through this difficult time was so appreciated.

We will forever miss Rob’s sense of humour, smile, loyalty, willingness to help out anytime and his love of all things family and friends. Cremation has already taken place. When we are able, we will celebrate Rob’s life and share happy memories of the too short time that we were blessed to have him in our lives.

We love you, Rob / dad / grampa, and we will always hold you near to our hearts. Thank you
for adding so much more to our lives than you could ever know! We will all miss you! XO

In lieu of flowers, if you choose to make a donation, please donate to #ivegotyourback911

I am deeply saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. I have spent many late night hockey practices sitting with Rob and a few other Dads discussing the goings on on the ice. Losing two great men from that table is so sad. It was always very entertaining. You will be missed Rob, gone way too soon. My deepest sympathies to Pam, Luke, Taylor and Evolyn. Love you guys, sending you huge virtual hugs.

I’m very sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I didn’t know Rob well, we played a little hockey together 25 years ago with some guys from PDSB . I knew his parents Marv and Bobby Fanboy and from what I remember of Rob, he not only looked like his Marv, he had a lot of Marv’s traits as well.He will be missed by all that new and loved him!

The world was a better place because of Rob. He treated us all like family and cared for our kids like his own. We will treasure so many fond memories we have had together. Not only at countless hockey tournaments, but on road trips, fishing trips, cottage weekends and camping trips. We shared many meals, laughs and conversations. We will miss you Rob. Lots of love and hugs to Pam, Taylor, Luke and Evolyn.

I am extremely sad to not have my friend around anymore. Rob was a fun loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. I miss his sense of humour and our weekly trips back and forth to hockey. I miss our couple nights and euchre games. I miss just texting him for absolutely no reason at all except to see what smartass comment I would get back. We all love you and will miss you deeply.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences for Rob's family in this difficult time. I got to know Rob a few years back through our weekly pick up hockey and as many have touched on he will truly be missed. I am so sorry to hear of Rob's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him many years ago at Green Glade along with my dad, where we had some great times. He was always upbeat and fun to work with. We only saw each other sporadically once I left GG but it was always nice to see him and to catch up, in particular when we played hockey together with our PDSB group. I could never forget the time that he took a slapshot so hard that it broke the goalie's facemask. After that, everyone (goalie included) got out of the way when they saw him winding up for another one!

My thoughts and prayers are with Rob's loved ones.

So many great memories of my friendship with Rob!
-racing to work to see who could be the first to arrive and open the school
- our 6:30am coffees together debating hockey and solving the problems of the world
- our degrading nicknames for one another... always brought a good laugh
-the kid in him, as he would hide to scare another staff member when they’d enter the room he was hiding in
- golfing with Rob, Luke and his father-in-law Bill and all the teasing that went on
Rob was a loyal friend and a great staff member... and I will miss him.

A true friend. All four of us are so blessed to have had Rob in our lives. His laugh, his tough side and soft side, his loyalty, his love, his welcoming smile, his generosity. We always loved having Rob around. Your tribute is so spot on - he gave more to people’s lives than he’ll ever know.
We were blessed to have Rob as a friend and part of our family. Pam, Luke, and Tay - this is for you, too. Our deepest condolences and our love and prayers are with you.

I knew Rob from Dixie hockey as I coached Chris Spencer -my son for many years. One memory was Rob scoring the winning goal from centre ice to win a game. We also took Rob fishing with Jimmy Small one weekend - up past Huntsville On. Great Guy and will be missed by a lot of people. God bless you and your family. Frank .

Rob was our son in law but truly we loved him as if he was our son. So many good qualities. Far too many to start listing. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Most recently when we moved the end of August there he was with his truck helping as usual even though he was not in the best of health at that time.
He was a wonderful husband and terrific father and most recently an awesome grandfather. It was so adorable to see Evolyn interact with Rob. She had eyes for no one else when she was sitting on grandpa’s knee. She absolutely adored him.
We always enjoyed the barbecues and camp fires at our trailer site in the summer with Pam and Rob and the kids.
It’s so nice to look back over 25 years and think of Rob and his family and know there isn’t a thing we would have wanted to change. He was a terrific guy and we loved him very much.
Rob we will continue thinking of all the good times and will miss you more than you can ever know. We love you.

Pam, Taylor, Luke and Family,
We are very saddened to hear about Rob’s passing. It was always a pleasant bonus to visit the Greaves when we knew the Fanjoys would be there too! Kind and friendly are the words that come to my mind when I think of Rob. May the memories you hold and all your love for Rob give you strength and may his love for you always give you comfort.

Your personality was infectious and after every game and a couple chasers with you I would look forward to next game. I will surely see you again and I hope you will find it in your heart to let me walk around you just once. Lol. You will be missed by so many but I am sure all the memories you leave behind has everyone smiling as well.

We feel very privileged to have been friends with Rob for so many years. We enjoyed many card games, fires, trips, and so many laughs we cannot begin to imagine not having him around forever.
He was so generous with his time and would always be the first one to show up if you ever needed anything. He had a great laugh, sense of humour and had the kindest soul.
“Skid row” will forever be a tribute at our place for you.
We miss and love you so much.

Such a good friend and even a better man. My favourite times with Rob were spent in his office - just talking. There may have been some name calling, too:) He was deeply proud of his family - Pam, Taylor and Luke - he loved you all so much. Fiercely. You could see it in his eyes - he was happy with his life because of what you gave him. That's probably what I admired about him the most - family first. All of you continue to be in my prayers.
