October 1, 1950 – July 21, 2020

After a two week battle with pneumonia, I said Good bye to Janet, my best friend of 41 years. My 3 children; Rosalynd (Tom), Roxanne (Jeff) and Russell; they didn’t always have the sense to cheer for my favourite teams but I still loved them unconditionally.

I was also “Pappy” to Audrey and Caitlin and loved making lasting memories with them.
My love of family came from growing up with Dave and Sid and spending summers in Kearney with the Huffmans.

After retiring as a Corrections Officer in Milton, I started a second career as a “bouncer” at SJAM and enjoyed 14 years ripping phone books and patrolling the halls.

A Gathering to Celebrate Stephen’s Life will be held at a later date.

In my memory, open your arms and embrace a loved one.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit Stephen's obituary notice on Facebook.

Deepest sympathies to the "Warden" and family. We have been strangers for to long, but memories are everlasting. Janet, stay strong and if you need anything, we are only a call away. RIP Brother!

We have wonderful memories of time spent with your family: ball games, swimming in your backyard pool, special celebrations and hanging out at the Stirling St house.

We were very saddened to see that Steve had passed away. He was always someone who would lend a hand wherever needed. Quiet and steady, always there for his family and friends. Heartfelt condolences to Janet, Rosalynd, Roxanne and Russell and their families. The neighbourhood won't be the same.

I am so very sorry to hear of Steve’s death. I worked with Steve for 14 years at SJAM and he was also so soft spoken and kind. He told me about the bus tours he took up north and talked to me about some of the James Michener books he was reading. I will really miss seeing him in the halls at school and am thinking of you all during this difficult time. I hope your fond memories of him will help lessen some of the heartache.

Janet, Rocky, Roz and Russell;

There is a big hole in your life with Steve's passing, but I hope that you can fill some of that hole with your love for each other, and him, and all the amazing memories of a life well lived, and a family well loved.

To Steve’s family,

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve known Steve since I started working at SJAM 12 years ago. I enjoyed our chats, and loved listening to his stories about being a corrections officer.

In recent years, he talked more and more about his family. I was delighted one day this past school year, to witness a visit from his daughter and grandchild. It was evident how proud and loving he was.

I will miss seeing Steve around the halls of SJAM. Peace and love to you during this difficult time.

Hi Janet and family,
First of all let me offer my condolences on the loss of Stephen. We worked together at Hurst for a number of years and often traveled to work together. He was a man of few words, but, you knew that he always had your back.I'm sure that working at SJAM would have been a bit of a culture shock too... for him and th students. He will be missed. I'm very saddened by his passing.

Marco, Stephen often talked about you and the talks you had on your drives to Milton. As you would guess, he treated the students similarly to the inmates! You put a smile on my face, just thinking about his time as a CO. Thank you!
I am sorry to read about your dad. I hope that the passage of time helps to heal the loss you are experiencing.
