Stew skated into my life through hockey. Our friendship on the ice evolved into much more. Stew's character, which included generosity of kindness and empathy, were extroidinary traits. Hockey's diversity of 'family' was embraced by Stew; there was no one more welcoming to the 'Wiserhood'. Such a calm, smooth player, he was a rock on the team blue line, but most significantly, Stew was a leader amongst his peers in off-ice hours between games. Rest in peace, Stew.

Very saddened to learn of Stew’s passing. I was out with a group of friends probably 2012 & he was with his buddies at Ft. Myers beach. I was a realtor and they were trying to convince him to buy in the area. My father had passed away around the same time as Mary and we talked about that. He touched many peoples lives. Sending prayers to his family and friends..

My deepest condolences to your family. Knew "Stewie" only thru hockey, but have some very endearing, and of course, humerous memories that we shared. A great family man and kind soul that we can all learn a little from.

Stew was a friend from my elementary and high school and we got back in touch in the last 10 years. What a great man he turned out to be! Glad I got to visit with him again at the Centennial High School 50th Reunion. You will be missed Stew. I'll will keep the name tag I took from you forever.

In the short time that you made Stew a brother in law to me I came to know him as one the kindest and most attentive gentlemen I have ever come across. I only wish we could have spent more time together over the years but that is the way it is with such a distant relationship. We would have been thick as thieves! I actually got most of his jokes and shared in his sorrow of coming up butter tart short on occasion. I will miss his gentle heart and shit eating grin! My love to all of you girls at this time, and an especially huge hug to you Randee.

Deepest sympathies Maegan and Brendan. Stew was such a great person, he will be greatly missed! We both feel that we have Stew and Mary to thank for some of our greatest friendships. They were always so generous with their space letting us goof off at the cottage or in the basement. We're sorry that we can't celebrate Stew's life in person this aft, we will be thinking of you both.

Randee, Maegan, Brendan & Families - we will miss our great pal so very much. What a truly magnificent job you all did in making Stew so comfortable these past weeks. We will be purchasing a Princess Margaret Lottery ticket for sure - fun! Also will be doing something commemorative at our cottage. Stew will never be forgotten!

Stew was a great man. He joined our family with Randee and it was as if he had always been with us, he fit in so well. His love of my sister, his children, his stepchildren and family, was epic and beautiful. Stew was everyone's favourite, with his charm, sweetness, fun spirit and endless generosity. He showed up for everyone and led such an honest and admirable life, fighting right up till the end. He will be missed, adored and revered by all lucky enough to have known Stewie.
