Thomas passed away peacefully on March 21, 2021 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Thomas was born in Galt Ontario, son of the late Alexander and Ann Livingstone. Predeceased by his beloved wife and true love, Linda (2011). Cherished father of Kimberly Livingstone and proud grandfather of Joakim Thomas Calliste.
Thomas is also fondly remembered by his brothers Alec (late Norma), Bill (Marleen), Art (Debbie), John and Hugh (Mae), his sister-in-laws Alma (Roy) Campbell, Sandra (Harold) Tremble, the late Rita (late Rosaire) Gervais, the late Frances Heroux and his late brother-in-laws Jack (late Pat) Hebert and Robert Clayton, in addition to his dearest friends Allen Jones and Sherry Clark.
Thomas spent his career as a police officer for the WRPS and after retirement volunteered on committees for both the City of Cambridge and Region of Waterloo. He will be remembered for his desire to improve accessibility for all.
Although Thomas’ life was permanently altered by progressive Multiple Sclerosis, he continued to live with an abundance of vitality, hope, optimism and positivity. He was a people person who had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed socializing and spending time with his family and friends. He touched the lives of all that he met and made many lasting friendships over the years. Thomas put people first and believed the true meaning of life was the ability to help others. His dream was to see everyone in his community well housed and well fed (including his backyard squirrels and birds).
Because of Covid restrictions, there are no funeral arrangements. Cremation has occurred and an outdoor Celebration of Life will take place later this spring. Please email: CelebrateTom2021@gmail.com with your contact information should you wish to attend.
A sincere and touch-felt thanks to the many PSWs and Nurses who provided wonderful homecare and touched Thomas’ life over the years. A special thanks to Doctor Nuri for always making time for Thomas and to the doctors, nurses and staff at CMH who attended to Thomas during his hospital stays over the past six months.
