Wilhelmina (Wilma) de Freitas (nee de Jong), after celebrating her 102nd birthday, passed away peacefully at Stirling Heights Long Term Care Home in Cambridge, Ontario on Thursday, September 15th, 2022.
Daughter of the late Harry and Katryn de Jong, and the youngest of her late siblings, Elizabeth, Harriet, Anne, and Harry. Beloved wife of the late Michael de Freitas (2005) and the late Stuart Smith (1973). Loving mother to her daughter Linda Semple (Clifford), and her late son Charles Smith (1977). Oma will be greatly loved and missed by her grandchildren Miriam Brant (Chris), Valerie McClung (Eric), and Ian Semple (Robyn), and her six great grandchildren, Lilian, Autumn, Alexander, Madelyn, Henry, and Jacob.
Wilma was born in Arnhem, Holland on September 7th, 1920. She married and came to Canada after WWII in 1945, and settled in Toronto, Ontario. She will be remembered by her family as strong-willed, independent, loving, and young-at-heart. Her love of samba dancing, art, reading, languages, soccer, and travelling will always be cherished. Wilma was a proud Dutch Canadian.

There will be a private Celebration of Life in Baden, Ontario to honour Wilma on Saturday, September 24th, 2022.
