William (Bill) Larone, 86, of Kitchener Ontario called Poppa by his grandchildren Kyle Fredenburg (Jennifer), Michelle Grady and Brendan Grady (Reiko) and Richard (predeceased 2005)  departed on May 22 2022 at Hospice Waterloo after a long battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Renfrew Ontario to Evelyn and Gordon Larone. He was predeceased by his brothers James, Jack, Donald and his twin brother Bob. He leaves behind brothers George, Gerald and David Larone.

Bill met his beloved wife Shirley O’Connor at Renfrew Collegiate and they enjoyed a happy sixty seven year marriage.

They went on to have three daughters, Deena Fredenburg (Thomas), Jill Larone, and Wendy Doherty. Bill was predeceased by his loving son-in-law Martin Doherty in 2021.

Upon retirement from a forty-year career with Ontario Hydro Bill enjoyed training and participating in Obedience trials and Confirmation Dog Shows as well as travelling with Shirley.

The family would like to thank Dr Hamid Mithoowani of the Grand River Cancer Centre and Oncology Nurse Jennifer for their years of dedication to the care of Bill as well as all the wonderful staff and residents of Chartwell Westmount Retirement Facility for the loving care and friendship to Bill over these past two years.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Hospice Waterloo.

There will be a private family interment at a later date.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237.  Please visit Bill's obituary notice on Facebook.

Bill proved to be one of the most cherished acquaintances of my hydro career. He was always approachable, welcoming and informative. A genuinely nice person to know and be in the presence of. May his smile and laughter live on in the memories of all who knew him.

My condolences to the family on the loss of Bill.
I admired and learned much from Bill when I first started working out of his Ontario Hydro office at 700 University Ave around 1978. Most of it was Forestry related, measuring timber on corridors being constructed at the time from Bruce Nuclear Generating Stations. Bill had a way of talking to you that was constructive and informative, often with his glasses held lightly in one hand, emphasizing a point being made. He had a social circle that came together at lunch time to discuss events, and play a hand or more of an odd named card game with equally odd rules. Bill was competitive, and didn't seem to mind my long losing streaks. I appreciated working for Bill and with every one the entire Forestry Department. Bless you Bill.

Dear Shirley and Family, It is with much sadness that I hear of Bills passing. The fond memories of our families over the many years are still very strong in my mind. Sending Hugs and Prayers. Marilyn and Jane.
