Gerardus “Garry” Patrick Groothuis

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on July 3, 2025 at Lisaard House Hospice in Cambridge, Ontario at the age of 70.

Beloved husband and best friend of Judy Groothuis (nee Gower).

Cherished father of Robert (Teresa), Micheal (Melissa), MaryAnn (Aaron), Gerald (Melody) and Benjamin (Brooke).

Proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren: Taylor, Hailey, Paige, Olivia, Summer, Skyla, Owen, Holly, Gemma, Bella and Amos.

Dear brother of Jack, Hank, Joanne, Christine, Rosemary and Jim.

Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Hendrika Groothuis.

 Garry was a family man and enjoyed playing his guitar at family events. He worked for many years as a tool and die maker. He volunteered as a soccer coach, and was an active member of his church. He was an avid reader, especially when it came to his morning paper. He enjoyed completing his daily crossword and watching the news. He was a huge Leafs and Bills fan, and was sorely disappointed with their losses this year. He will be sorely missed at the annual Christmas Eve sing-a-long where he energetically led the 12 Days of Christmas.

 As per Garry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on August 17, 2025 at Hespeler Legion from 1 to 4 pm, please RSVP to Judy Groothuis at judygarry@hotmail.com. Hawaiian style clothing are encouraged.

 In lieu of flowers, donations made to The Terry Fox Foundation or the Lisaard House would be appreciated by the family.
