Linda Byers
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Byers on July 21, 2026, at the age of 79.
Linda had a tremendous capacity for love, especially for her daughter Michelle and her son Michael. She devoted her life to caring for others—her children, her parents, her friends, and her patients. She was a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse for 43 years, spending most of her career at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. While she often had a "glass half empty" perspective and earned the nickname "Eeyore," her loyalty, kindness, and genuine concern for others were unwavering. She brought smiles to everyone around her with her quick wit and dry sense of humour.
She will be forever missed by her daughter, Michelle McAlpine (Steve); her son, Michael Byers (Jess); and the grandchildren she adored: Mason McAlpine, Lucy Byers, and Margot Byers. She was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Lucille MacDonald. Linda also leaves behind her loving sister, Cathy Ralph (Greg); her children's sister, Lyndi Spink; as well as her nephews, nieces, extended family, and many dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at The IV Loft (Four Fathers Brewing Co.), 125 Guelph Avenue, Cambridge on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Food4Kids Waterloo Region would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
