Peter Albert Schaefer
October 28, 1941 – November 8, 2025
After a brief eight-week battle with cancer, Peter Schaefer passed away peacefully, just days after celebrating his 84th birthday at Innisfree House Hospice in Kitchener, Ontario.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sylva-Ray (Syl). Loving father of Cynthia (and her husband Dale) of Waterloo, Bryan (and his husband Matthew) of Petrolia, and Michelle (and her husband Larry) of Kitchener.
Proud Papa to Kate (and her husband Nathan), Kyle (and his wife Lindsay), Joshua, Jocelyn (and her fiancé Braden), and Zachary. Cherished Big Papa to August, and excited to become a Big Papa once again with a new great-grandchild arriving in January.
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Peter and Syl raised their family there before Peter relocated to Kitchener later in life. He was an avid baseball fan and a respected umpire in the Intercounty Baseball League for 25 years. One of his proudest baseball moments was umpiring a Toronto Blue Jays game in 1979.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held with immediate family.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Innisfree House Hospice in Kitchener, Ontario, for their exceptional care and compassion.
