Peter Allan McKay

Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 79.

Husband of Patricia “Patti” Lynn McKay (née Reitz) for 46 years. Beloved father of Collin McKay (Jennifer). 

Proud grandfather of Carrie, Tanner, Autumn, Randi-Lynn, Glenn & Ashleigh. 

Also survived by his loving niece Erin (John), and grandnephew Bird (Stephen). 

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Lorraine McKay, and by his sister, Deborah Gillespie (Mick).

Peter was a skilled Tool and Die maker who took great pride in his work and continued to practice well into his later years. He loved his work and the people he worked alongside, remaining active and engaged right into the final year of his life.

Outside of work, Peter found great joy in fishing and time spent at his trailer in Fenelon Falls and Port Elgin over the years. Whether casting a line, relaxing by the water, or enjoying good company with family and friends, he appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

Peter will be remembered as a kind, caring, and fun-loving man who genuinely enjoyed being around people. He greeted friends and family with a big hug and an easy smile, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh with him. His warmth, good humour, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Peter chose cremation and we are honouring his wishes. Cremation has taken place.
