Ruth Elaine Higham
Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge, ON - Ruth Elaine Higham (née Patterson) passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge at the age of 93. Born in Fordwich, Ontario, her life was one of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Robert (Bob) Higham, and by her eldest son, Paul Michael Wipp (Darlene). She is survived by her two sons, Bradley George Wipp (Kim) and Scott James Wipp.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Aimee, Adam, Kiel, Brittani, Shyanne, Caralin, Jared, Elizabeth, James, and Kate. Her legacy continues through her 12 great-grandchildren: Kai, Zachary, Jaeda, Kiera, Thimio, Leo, Taylor, Lennon, Tyra, Ezekiel, Ezraya, and Cherith.
She will be sadly missed by her devoted sister Elizabeth Austin (William), sister-in-law Margaret Studiman (Al), and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by Jim Patterson (Donna).
Predeceased by brother Willoughby and sister Wilda Patterson.
Ruth was also dedicated to her career as an emergency room nurse at Cambridge Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1994. Strong and independent, Ruth was also known for her compassionate care and her ability to comfort both her patients and their families in their most challenging times.
After retiring, Ruth and Bob enjoyed travelling the world, spending their years cruising to various destinations, creating lasting memories together.
Ruth's passing marks the end of a remarkable life. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and compassion.
Honouring Ruth's wishes, a private family graveside service will be held.
