Carol Anne Rose Henderson

11/13/2016

Passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday November 13, 2016, at the age of 74.

Born in Hespeler, daughter of the late Ernie and Berniece (Carpenter) Lee. Beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Henderson, whom she was married to for 52 years. Loving mother of Diane Henderson (Klaus Willmann), Steve Henderson (Anne Wolf) and Bob Henderson (Cherie Mongeon). Cherished grandmother of Jamie, Reese, Brynn and Nolan. Dear sister of Terry Lee (Lynn Lee), Lorna Renwick (Harry Bast), Gail Russell (Ross Russell) and Joanne Lee. Also survived by her sister-in-law Sheila Henderson and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother-in-law Ken Henderson.

Carol was a loving mother and person who always put others first as exemplified by her long-term dedication assisting residents at the Cambridge Country Manor retirement home.  Carol also dedicated much of her time helping others in need through the Out of the Cold program operated through the Hespeler Presbyterian church.  Carol had a passion for music, including playing her keyboard at home and organ at church, and most certainly cherished time singing with her siblings.  Carol was a natural athlete who excelled in all sports including tennis and hockey (playing for the Hespeler Angels).   Starting at age 56, Carol took up golf, and soon had her first hole-in-one.  Carol also enjoyed her time spent with friends in the “Lunch Bunch” and Aquafit.

A private celebration of Carol’s life will be held with close friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cambridge Country Manor or the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

I am heart broken. I have known Carol since St. James and Grade school days and as a part of the Hespeler Angels Hockey Team. I was a part of the lunch bunch; however moving to Sauble stopped that. We did e-mail a lot and I was so happy to be reunited in person at the Hespeler Reunion in June and super excited when the whole lunch bunch gang came up here for a day in August. I certainly will treasure memories of Carol and especially that day in August My sympathies to the whole Henderson and Lee families. You have lost an angel.I will miss my friend.

Dear Bob,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy on Carol’s death. We remember many good times together trying new restaurants in Toronto and our trip to Montreal with all the kids. Carol loved life and new adventures and that is how we will remember her, vibrant and smiling.
With love,
George and Eileen Jaray

Bob, our hearts break for you. Carol was such a bundle of energy and loved fun times. We find it hard to believe she is gone. I got to know her through the Out of the Cold Program and we got together every Thursday afternoon to cook in the Church kitchen. She made it so much fun and we shared many laughs during those times. It won't be the same without her. I will miss her smile and laugh. Marley and I thoroughly enjoyed the bus trips we took with both of you to Niagara.
Those were special times. You and your family are in our prayers.
Love, Gail and Marley Steckly

I am deeply saddened by the loss of a fine woman and friend from the "Pool Gal Days" at the Holiday Inn. Treasured memories.

My deep sympathy to your family. I met Carol at St. Andrew's when she sang alto in the choir there. Every time that I would meet her while shopping we would have a wonderful chat about what she was doing with her musical talents and she would encourage me to keep on using mine. What a sad loss for you and for our community. May she rest in peace.

I have fond memories of Carol throughout our growing up years, particularly St. James Lutheran Church, Sunday School, Confirmation Class and Young Peoples! Carol was always very vibrant, friendly and kind. In our 20's,she introduced me to C.S. Lewis' book "Mere Christianity" the meaning of which, even today, has led me to expand and grow my faith. You and your family are very much in my prayers.
