Deborah Louise Gillespie passed away at Innisfree House in Kitchener, on January 6, 2017, after a battle with illness. She had just turned 67.

Debbie was the beloved wife of 48 years to Malcom (Mick) Gillespie, the loving mother of Erin (John) and the cherished grandmother of Jessica. She is also survived by her brother Peter McKay (Patti). She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family members.

Debbie was born and raised in Cambridge and after moving to several new cities, always making friends everywhere she went, settled back in Cambridge. She enjoyed working part time at Tootsies shoe store, playing bridge with her friends, creating beautiful works of stained glass and taking her granddaughter to movies and plays whenever she could.

In the different places Debbie lived, she always found ways to help others. She often worked as a literacy volunteer and she particularly enjoyed her time helping at therapeutic horse farms -Harmony Farms in Florida and Pride Stables in Kitchener, where disabled kids were given the opportunity to ride.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Her family will host a drop-in gathering to celebrate Debbie's life at 61 Devil's Creek Drive, Cambridge between 1:00 and 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 14.

In lieu of flowers, please consider expressions of sympathy in the form of a donation to Innisfree House where Debbie and her family were given the utmost of care and compassion.

Please visit Debbie's obituary notice on Facebook.
